Yes I've found that "Saxsperience" forum to be interesting and "unintentionally amusing" in equal measure! :-D

First time I've seen it Matt. Enjoyed reading the bits I did :D Not sure it's for me and my Saxo though

I did learn one thing... I never knew the MA and BE have the same bellhousing pattern... Or at least, I assume they do...

The MA is well known to be a bit marginal in the diff area when trying to pass lots of power through it...

I think that's the interesting thing Jim, they don't, but equally there's not just one bell housing type:

BE can fit:
XU and XUD (leaning back 30°)
EW and DW (leaning back 10°??)
And in this case also TU engines.
Also DV6

(Thinks is 4 different bell housing types)

Similarly ML can fit
DW10, DW12 (not sure if these are different)
Also XU10 (2 litre turbo) and also XUD11
Es9 v6
(3 or 4 types)

MA fits the TU, TUD?
And also DV4 I think
So couple of types there too!

BE also has cable and hydraulic clutch release variants,
Plus rod change or cable change gear selection too!

Gets more complicated the more you look at it! :-D

I've a head full of useless information? :-D

Did a bit of digging trying to work out what six speed options would fit my 306 HDi, my wife's 206 DV6 and my Coupe EW10 as really I think all could do with "longer legs" for motorway cruising.

All a "desktop research project" though I have bought a 307 HDi six speed gearbox (as it was eBay for £51!!! Could not resist at that price!) That may end up in the Coupe. I've tried and it bolts up to an EW10A (so good confidence EW10 and DW10 bell housings are the same) but need to sort clutch as ML and BE input shafts are different diameters. More complication!

A bit of a "back burner" project at present, a house full of DIY taking priority (hence all the pictures of the C5 loaded up on my blog-thingy) :)

In reality the diesel box may prove far too long legged for my comparatively feeble 2 litre to pull 6th. I've looked at the six speed from the 2.2 EW12 407 coupe but it's not much longer (as the 407 had quite a bit bigger wheels than the 406 - so gets it's longer legs by different method)
