I looked at the area in the photograph of the blue one posted, but if there's anything there, it's covered up by the ECU.

The model in question is a 1994 1.1i Image


This is something at the top of the suspension, it's hardly legible but here it is anyway. I think it might be "Avr(il) 94", because that's when it was registered

That's very odd. The date of the car is April 1994, that's when it was bought new by the current owner.

From the chart you linked, the most likely candidate seems to be EKL rouge cerise. Cherry red.

Obviously I don't know the history of the vehicle, I can only go on the actual data supplied. All I can tell you is Citroen's build date for that VIN - so unless the engine has been replaced with a later one / VIN changed, I can't say. Citroen's database contains the factory build date (the date it was actually built at the factory) as 19th May 1998.

I think that's a mistake in the DBASE, Marc; it also says warranty start 01/01/90!! 6351 is stencilled on the suspension pillar which is 30/03/94 which makes more sense!

I know that for the older vehicles they don't record certain data and all the warranty start dates are 01/01/90 for these older vehicles Richard, however the RPO should always be correct, but I'll leave it at that as I can't say further. I still find these 'tippex' marks to be dubious from a manufacturer - more like what you'd expect from a breakers yard!
