krikan wrote: 03 Feb 2023, 16:00 Thanks a lot for your reply Doo.
I live in Denmark and there is no real market for reconditioned injectors here.
Based on your reply, I will order 2 more injectors so I have 4 new in total. That’s around half of what my old car is worth ;) Might try putting in 2 injectors first, before the last 2 arrive.
Did you notice an improvement after putting in 2 injectors as well, or was it only after all 4 was replaced?
The engine started and ran, but was a bit out of sorts and the leaking diesel was creating a fire hazard, a stink and a danger to bikers and traffic in general.

When the new injectors went in the engine was noticeably quieter, quicker starting and goes like a scalded rat. It would sometimes idle funny and sometimes needed an "Italian Tune Up" because my wife is very conservative with fuel and speed.... But I believe the build up of carbon (thanks to the EGR) in the inlet played a big part. I had the engine in pieces and took the pressure washer to the block, head & inlet manifold. Remarkably, the EGR valve was sooty, but otherwise clean as was the exhaust manifold and DPF/Cat. I don't agree with conservative driving (or gov...errm I'll leave it at that  ) in a modern diesel, hence I take it for a razz every so often. Clear the pipes
Has anyone seen the plot? :?

Ok. Thanks for the update :)
Unfortunately I do a lot of short trips. But still, the injectors seems to have made it until around 180.000 km. I will do some more Italian tune-up, if this story ends well with the new injectors. I get them on Monday. Will update here as soon as I have tried them. I guess there are some learnings from my story either way.

Now all 4 new injectors have been installed and coded. It drives like a new car.
Lesson to learn is that you should replace all injectors, if they are replaced due to wear/clogging. By replacing only one, as in my case, the ECU thought that the new injector was injecting to much fuel or was stuck in open position. This is compared to the old, clogged, injectors. So the ECU needs to cut down injection time A LOT on the new injector. This causes torque issues and therefore the ABS shut down issue etc.

C4 1.6HDI 110HP 183.000 km
Just encountered the P0265 "Injector 2 Signal.- Short circuit between two wires"
After readig on forums, I understood that I needed to replace the #2 injector.
Short on time, so I deceided to go for the expensive option: A brand new injector.
Lucas and about € 400,00 in Norway
Replaced and coded the new injector with Diagbox (china edition).
Everything worked fine on the test drive.
Left the car in the hands of my wife and after some kilometres, the Check engine light" came back and the car was limping on 3 cylindres.

\Now I have the code "P12A4" Cylinder 2. "Injector injects too much or remains locked in the open position"

After reading this thread, I realize that I should have replaced with an 2.nd hand injector, because the new injector is far better in supply than the other 3 older.
So, now I hav the option... Spend another € 1200,00 on 3 new injectors or wait for an old one...
My daughter who use this C4 are sturdying in the soutc 300km away from here. so if she get another injector failure...
I'm the one who get's the call.

I'll be back with some update on the progress.

Just a note for anyone shocked at the quoted prices.
Scandinavians use a different system of notation to us UKists.
€400,00 is four hundred Euros. The comma replaces the full stop where we would put it as £400.00, or more usually just £400.
Still expensive but that's Norway for you.

Did you code the correct injector? PSA engines number the cylinders from the gearbox end. In fact, did you replace the correct injector?

Yes I did. No. 1 is on the tranny side.
I've just replaced the remaining 3 injectors, and are going for a test ride now...

Regarding the € 400....
You're absolutely correct.
The price here was equal to four hundred Euros each...
It actually doubles the value of the car...

Almost like the joke we had about the Soviet LADA here in Norway: How to double it's value?
Top off the tank with gasoline...

Well, Off into the cold breeze (minus 10°C here in Norway now)

First trip seemed ok.
I've not been driving this car much.
It has the DSG tranny (Automatic clutch on a manual tranny)
It's a bit... erratic and is very sensitive on the throttle at low speeds.
Almost like when a fresh driver tries a manual first time. A bit kangaroo..
And now i is the first time I'm looking at the papers in the glove box.
It actually had a new injector # 4 in July 22 a new injector #3 in March 23.
So... If I had read the info 3 hours earlier, I might could have saved € 800...
But when the s**t hits the fan... you'd better duck down fast.

Mine is also a little shaky with the gear etc. after having swapped to new injectors. Maybe it could help with gearbox calibration, since it probably has more torque now. I have not tried this yet, but have read that it can go both ways. Either smooth shifting or worse than it was before.

I'm still struggling.
When idling, it's running very erraticly. I'll try to link to a couple videoes here, and hope it's not erased by the admin.
All injectors are coded correct in Diag Box (Tranny side is Cyl #1)
I have no fault codes either.
Any help would be appreciated.

A little update.
A test drive, and I were punishing the car in 2. and 3. gear. 4000-5000 rpm.
When I parked, it ran smooth as a swiss watch.
After a few secounds, it started to run eratiaclly again.
Maybe it's the high pressure injection pump that are playing with me?

Do you have 3 or 4 brand new injectors now Roy? Can’t figure it out from your posts. If you only have 3 new ones, then the old one is the problem.

In the clip it seems that #1 and #2 are more ‘open’ than #3 and #4 since the correction factor is around 0.8 compared to 1.2ish respectively.

1. Have you replaced fuel filter recently? That gave me the same kinds of warnings in the beginning of when my problems started. Then I guess with time, the injectors got too clogged, so a new filter would not matter. Replacing fuel filter should be the first thing to do if not done already.

2. Next step would be to swap 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 and recode. If the correction factor follows the injectors then they are the problem. I.e. assuming that all four are almost new, pair 1 and 2 seems a lot different than 3 and 4. Are they of the same brand etc.?

Now it's 4 brand new injectors.
All of them from Lucas...
We had the car in the workshop for a service (since it's far from me), but it seems that they only changet the oil and oil filter.
I cleaned the MAF sensor and it seemed to help, but it's not perfect yet.
I'll have to replace cabin and air filter + diesel filter next.
But I'll have to investigate further when my daughter comes back.
She's studying in the south of Norway, 300km away, and just left.

The most strange thing though, is that I realized when I read through all the invoices in the glove box, that Injector #3 only have 8000km on it, and injector #4 have 13000km on it IE should be like new.
So I really don't understand why I got the the code "P12A4" Cylinder 2. "Injector injects too much or remains locked in the open position" at all after installing an new injector on #2.
With 3 new injectors... and only #1 old.
Old diesels are much more nice to work on...

Agree. It sounds really strange if they are all almost new, but somehow they do not seem to collaborate well, 1 and 2 vs. 3 and 4.

Do you have a picture of the top of the injectors with the codes that you could share? Some letters and numbers could be misinterpreted, e.g. 0 and O and 5 and S.

I have pictures and will upload them here.
Don't understand that I can have registered a wrong ID (I was showing extremely caution doing this)
My daughter had to turn around and come back home after about 100km last night, so now I have the beast here for further investigation...
