C5 X7 Rear Anti Roll Bar Bushings

Unread post by Loopebg96 »

Hi everyone!

When inspecting the rear suspension on my C5, I saw that the anti roll bar bushes were quite perished.

Could someone give some advice, as I see that the whole unit is sold without the individual bushes.

VIN for reference - VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Also if they are bushes only, is the job hard or pretty straightforward?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Just in case there's any confusion on what it is, a Sway Bar is better known as an Anti Roll Bar in the UK...

Have a look on this diagram and let me know if it any specific part. The rear suspension on the C5 X7 is a multi-link setup, so has many parts to it that can be replaced. Let me know if your require the part numbers for any of the items, quoting Diag 'A' or 'B' and then the item number.

Diag A - Rear Axle

Here's the rear torsion bar Diagram too in case it's anything on either of the diagrams:

Diag B - Rear Torsion Bar

On the above (Diag B) The anti Roll Bar Rod item (4):

Original Citroen part: 9807130080, £70.15
Citroen Cheaper alternative, part: 1634904380, £13.16

I would have thought that the OP is asking about the mounting bushes to the body, especially as he already knows they are not available separately from the bar.

Ok, so the bush itself as you know is not available from Citroen and there's no part number for it that I can provide you with.

The complete Anti Roll Bar is ridiculously expensive, part: 5170E7, £385.81 UK pricing.

Thanks a lot Marc!

It’s pretty ridiculous that you should replace the whole anti roll bar for two bushings..

My local dealer quoted me around 450€ for the whole thing, so maybe it will be a good idea to research for some custom polyurethane bushings.

Yep, here you go:

https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/5170e7.html

Autodoc are the same company and they have them too.

Just search "5170E7 Bushes" and you should be fine.

Found them locally, so I will have some work for the weekend. :)

Cheers for the help!

Did not realise no part number for anti roll bar bushes, how strange! Did exactly as advised as rubber on mine also looking quite tired.

Interestingly, Autodoc doesn't think it'll fit my 2.2 HDi X7 (but does fit a multitude of other X7 and all C6 variants!) Doesn't also list the 2.7 or 3.0 HDi X7 either - did the bigger engine ones have a different diameter rear anti roll bar?

Yes Matt, the diameters are different depending on engine and model (20, 20.5, 21, 21.5) etc.

The above ARB part number (5170E7) is for the specific ARB on the OPs vehicle, so the bushes must be for this part.

Having looked at your VIN for your 2.2 (175) it is the same ARB even though the OP has a 2.2 DW12C engine. So the same ones I linked to - just order those.

https://www.google.com/search?q=%225170 ... s-wiz-serp

Make sure they specify for ARB part number 5170E7.

Thanks Marc, I did search for 5170E7 (on the Autodoc app it initially also filters by your entered car details - gave no results, so expanded to "search for parts fitting other vehicles" and a couple came up. Those are the cheaper ones (others only £8-odd) both said 29mm and both said doesn't fit my 2.2

I'll add them to "wish list" (don't dream too big! :rofl2: ) and grab a couple next order I do.

Thanks again,

Matt

A 'wish list' with Autodoc is a good plan to offset the carriage costs Matt... Wait until you have a decent amount to order as buying just one item at a time can be expensive!

I've got a nice, growing list of stuff I want for Bluebell... It's almost ready to go :)

Have a further tip on that front -

Use the wish list as a reminder, but don't just buy straight from there. I found a few things in my wish list (previous - arrived this week) were more expensive than I recalled they were when added weeks previously.

So I searched for the same item again, low and behold cheaper versions found! So I think they're wise to our technique and are cranking the prices up in the hope we don't notice!
