Re: Crank pulley wont budge
Never had direct experience, but have read that oil cooler failure tends to be MASSIVE oil contamination of the coolant (being at higher pressure: oil effectively "pumped" into the cooling system - dark black appearing in the expansion bottle etc)
Given bodges found this far, I would be tempted just to carry on and hope a moron put a bit of the wrong thing into the wrong place in the past.

Re: Crank pulley wont budge
Maybe so I think the circus was doing the maintenance on this.the coolant is filthy and the oil on top of coolant is black so it looks like a failed cooler.i think I will change it for peace of mind, if water gets into the oil it would destroy the engine.o are they a common failure its just a plate heat exchanger but it's sealed so non serviceable.i need to get a few years out of it and I'm in too deep to back out. I wouldn't get the money back out of it. I know, put down the shovel

@darbuck Keep going buddy - the deeper you dig, the better the end vehicle will be.
For the crank pulley, one of those pullers which have a hydraulic centre element rather than just a threaded screw is a gazillion times more effective, and at this price, they aren't expensive when compared to branded tools, talking about the likes of this bad boy on ebay for fifty five bucks:

15 ton!
Flipping heck, not getting myself one of them - my clairvoyant tendencies sees the phrase:
"Well, that's definitely very broken, now" !!!
In my future, were I to add one of them to my tool collection! Will stay well away!
