Glad you managed to get home. You probably got home at the same time you would have just been picked up by the tow truck if you'd waited

Yep, and thats assuming they even turned up on time!bobins wrote: 24 Dec 2022, 08:59 Glad you managed to get home. You probably got home at the same time you would have just been picked up by the tow truck if you'd waited![]()
I had a look at the shaft.. The shaft was very damp, but the other bits of car around it was pretty dry. A bit of corrosion too. (So it doesnt appear to be splashed up moisture).
Stuck my head under the car too and it was wet all over on the very underside.
Seems likely its the shaft - if it had been leaking anywhere else i doubt it would have got the top of the shaft wet, as thats the highest point in the system? (other than the pump).

Quite surprised at the extent of bodywork corrosion around that access hole to be honest!

Re: C5 x7 - power steering leak
mine is similar. X7 seems to be engineered to have intense and concentrated rust. Ha, no doubt there's some alloy casting nearby that's helping it rust there. Maybe also all the salt from the chips I drop on occasionMattBLancs wrote: 26 Dec 2022, 11:54 Quite surprised at the extent of bodywork corrosion around that access hole to be honest!

Wierd - mine was pristine from memory in this area. Will have another look soon and take a picture to make you all jealous ( if my memory proves correct.aerodynamica wrote: 28 Dec 2022, 16:24mine is similar. But agree, someone on here (maybe Jay?) said the X7 seems to be an exercise in galvanic corrosion! I've not found anything too frightening on mine as yet, but no doubt haven't dug deep enough rather than it not being there!
Here's a 206 sill to make you feel better!
