Hi, New to the Forum.
I've recently bought a 308SW 2012 as family is growing and a small Clio wasn't cutting it anymore.
I've incurred two issues,
1. The eco engine stop never seemed to work, it flashes Eco on the dash when it should engage but nothing more. I've no idea on this one but I don't mind it not working but I feel I should find out if it could indicate a larger problem, if anyone knows anything about this, there's little I could find online.
2. Few days ago, "Parking assistant faulty" beeps up when the car is started and reverse selected. Before this it was working fine. On this variation, the PSA module is in a boot side panel and doesn't seem to be in contact with any water like the issue with 407 I believe.
I checked all the contacts and nothing visual seems broken or burnt and I can see most of the sensors from under the bumper. I was thinking of just replacing the module as a used but working one is only £20 but I read comment that could deactivate the system and it'll need plugged in to fix.
In this situation would it be worth buying a lexia 3 diagnostic kit myself ( I see easy diagnostic is recommended)
Sorry for the long first post but these little thing itch my brain.
Thanks in advance

Re: 308 SW 2012 - Rear parking Assistant faulty & eco engine stop not working
Hi and welcome.
First the Stop Start:
Special cases: STOP mode unavailable:
STOP mode is not invoked when:
This operation is perfectly normal.
Depending on which system you have fitted (whether there is a separate voltage maintaining device or not (capacitor)) fitted or just the main battery like newer systems, I can't tell you without knowing more about your specific model and engine. Pop your VIN up if you need confirmation (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).
As for the reverse parking assistance, don't start spending money on replacing ECUs until you know what the issue is. In most cases, one or more sensors may be faulty. The system self-checks each time reverse is engaged. If there is a fault in one or more sensors, the whole system is disabled. Getting a proper diagnostic, preferably with Diagbox will determine if it is a sensor and if so, which one is faulty.
Over time water can get into the backs of these and gradually corrode them internally causing intermittent operation.

- the driver's door is open,

- demisting is on,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, braking assistance, ambient temperature...) where the engine is needed to assure control of a system.

Re: 308 SW 2012 - Rear parking Assistant faulty & eco engine stop not working
Do you have any idea how old the battery is? Do you know what specification the battery is?
What engine and gearbox are fitted?

My VIN number is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I'll follow your list above as a check list and see if any isn't as it should be and stopping the Stop Start.
I thought that would be best too. It's strange though because my Bluetooth isn't working this morning. Reading the manual it has the same fuse (F14 - 15A) as the parking sensors so I assume it's the same system?

I have no idea about the battery, it "has full signed service history" but no details on what was done.Paul-R wrote: 07 Dec 2022, 09:53 Do you have any idea how old the battery is? Do you know what specification the battery is?

As much as I know, it's a 1.6 Active SW E-HDI

Re: 308 SW 2012 - Rear parking Assistant faulty & eco engine stop not working
I doubt it will be any of the fuses. The Parking assistance is pretty reliable and if it was dead it wouldn't beep and throw a wobbly in reverse. So I still think you have one or more faulty sensors.
F14 is for the Hands Free kit which you don't have - you have the RD45 which has Bluetooth built in so does not need the Hands Free kit.

Much appreciated, it do beep once when reverse is selected and then flashes up on the little screen that there's a fault.GiveMeABreak wrote: 07 Dec 2022, 12:55 I doubt it will be any of the fuses. Aye I just thought because of the way the handbook lays out the fuses that the parking assist and Bluetooth was under the same fuse that it could be linked together why both have failed

Yes, the manuals are generic and have to cover all trim and equipment levels, so not everything is relevant to all vehicles.

Re: 308 SW 2012 - Rear parking Assistant faulty & eco engine stop not working
I don't know if this will work (as the Parking Assist is throwing up an error), but if you don't have access to a DiagBox system you might want to put the car into reverse and then touch each sensor lightly with a screwdriver. You may feel them buzzing. The one that isn't will be the faulty one. This assumes that the system is trying to 'drive' the sensors, even though it has thrown up the error (which will then stop it from assisting you).

Re: 308 SW 2012 - Rear parking Assistant faulty & eco engine stop not working
on the 307 usual culprits seem to be one of the outer parking sensors, the inner ones are protected better by the bumper filler. I took a guess at the exhaust side on mine changed with an eBay one £8 didn't work turns out it was the driver side outer playing up. I had the same symptoms quite intermittently though.

Thanks everyone that replied! It's been a fantastic introduction to this forum and really credit to the community here.
Seems like my best route is either buy Diagbox and cables or go to a local garage to get it scanned.
Would it be considered as tempting fate if i decide on using software like Diagbox myself? I have a good technical mind but I don't want to go this route if like one miss click will brick the car
Is easy diagnostic what's generally recommended by this forum?

If your a bit computer-phobic, I'd avoid this as you'll need some IT skills and a dedicated laptop to set this up. Installation can be a bit of a nightmare. Most members here I think it fair to say would consider buying a VCI kit with Diagbox only if they were going to use it on an ongoing basis for fault finding. For one-off situations it's less hassle to go to a reputrable garage or even a dealer and get the correct faulty sensor diagnosed and replaced.
So only you can answer this question really
