Just wrapped mine up and brought it in for the winter.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 16:49 SWMBO uses the rotary drying line in the garden if there is no rain about regardless of time of year. When it is raining or expected soon the 1600 rpm spin gets the laundry pretty dry and we air off on driers in the study with the window open and the rad on. Works for us, no damp issues in there at all.

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Ours lives in the shed when not in use. Even in the summer I don't like it out if not being used as it spoils the viewing of the bird activities at the top of the garden! It does mean getting it out and putting it away every time but in general it lasts much longer as it is not subjected to rain and sun being protected either by the washing hanging on it or the shed when not in use!!

I read it first time as your rotary drying line was that which was spinning at 1600 revs!

Well that would be good, perhaps a windmill on the top of the line pole with a worm gear linkage to the line!!!

Kind of the opposite of what you need, thinking about it - as washing dries ok on a boring old static washing line when it's windy.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 19:25 Well that would be good, perhaps a windmill on the top of the line pole with a worm gear linkage to the line!!!
It'll have to be driven by an old lawnmower engine then - so you can fling the clothes round and round when it's dead calm

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Of course could just use a robot mower to run in a circle and tow the line round with it!!

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Hopefully I completed the last instalment of the garage ventilation issue this morning thanks to a delivery from Amazon:
It is connected to a timer to run for an hour a day at the, probably, warmest part of the day, so in theory it will have the most moisture in the air to be evacuated! I am going to call it job done

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
LOML is being quite sanguine about our last DIY cockup. Me, I am fit to be tied just now.
The first order of wall panels arrived like this - 3 out of 4 panels burst all the way through.
Replacements. All undamaged but entirely the wrong width!!!!
To further annoy the whatsits off me, Ebay won't upload my pics on my laptop so I am having to use the phone app. Joy of joys for chubby fingers!
Looks like LOML won't get the airing cupboards in our ensuite finished anytime soon.

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
I have installed Heated Washer jets on our 3008 but with an added twist. I have run the last 20cm of water tubing to the jets inside Handle Bar Twist Grip Heaters to stop the water chilling as well as the nozzles, which still froze sometimes when you were driving in very cold weather. So far, they have worked a treat and I am in the middle of tidying up the cables and switches for this year's onslaught of freezing temperatures. Up till now they have sort of been jerry rigged without proper switches. I am adding a switch inside the car and an adjustable thermo switch at the grille to only make them work in extreme conditions when I forget to switch them off.

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
I have a lot of small "projects" to complete. Some of them are on this dining table.
Some of them are outside.
Because of the wind we get here everything outside has to be Lasooed and tied down firmly.

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Just to prove that I do actually do stuff and not just watch the telly or sit on forums all day.
Baubles have been re-attached
Mr Kinkade's Tower awaits a saw blade.
It appears the gearbox in these VERY expensive models is prone to problems. The tower is assembled from the bottom section upwards and bolted together individually. Great!
The top snow scene "cone" is glued down! B#####!
A very fine saw blade and lots of patience is needed to separate these apparently.
And not on top of LOML's dining table either.

there are plenty on the net. I will try and do a series of photos and videos as I wrestle with this one.
Not shown but I soldered a cushion earlier today.
