So today the 206cc had 2 new drop links fitted.
The new are the chrome coloured ones
The black are 17 months old.
Also screen shot of ebay seller best to avoid.

Bargain drop links always fail quickly.....OEM type/LEMFÖRDER etc only as a rule of thumb.

Re: Drop link whoes.
The main advantage of cheap ones is how easily they unscrew when they fail in short order - no chance to build up a thick layer of rust on their threads!
I did manage to get a refund on a pair that the rubber perished in about 10 months! (Some of which was during COVID lockdown!) - worth contacting the seller see what they offer. Might ignore you, might get your money back (you don't ask, you don't get...)

406 rear drop link, failed in short order (and lower fixing is blooming awkward to get to!)

406 rear ones plastic like the vauxhall astra g front ones , they go the very same way., i did email the seller but was ignored hence why i put a screen shot of the ebay seller, think they need a name changed to we sell crap car parts. The new ones are much better the rubbers seem thicker the ride feels nicer too.

Re: Drop link whoes.
Glad to hear you tried the seller, obviously less pleased to hear being ignored!
I changed the rear 406 ones as was chasing a difficult to find clunk. Read online that they "always go" so thought must be source of my clunk.
Date stamp on the ones I removed confirmed they were original fitment (so 20 year and about 140,000 miles old) - so you can understand how annoying it was the new ones then lasted such a short time! (That's a failed new one pictured) the rubber perished and torn all around when retained to the plastic strut.
306 have choice of plastic or steel drop links. Steel versions seem to eat the ball joints and so plastic version recommended for longer life. Have seen a banana shaped plastic one though so am unconvinced which is the better option!

Re: Drop link whoes.
Ive seen the plastic ones snap , one car i brought to flip had passenger side front snapped in half ball joints were good. It was picked up as an mot advisory 7 year ago this was, the advisory stated ns anti roll bar linkage looks to had slight difference of structure to the os check and replace if need be. Obviously the last keeper didn't bother.
