Hello good friends,
I have been troubleshooting this particular problem for a while, started with replacing the battery thinking that was the first problem, of course followed the correct procedure for doing so, but still I have this same issue and I would need some help.
Anyway, I just did the BSI reset procedure to see if that will do anything but no luck.
Any advice, I am told that there is a small battery behind the navigation display serving this purpose ,remembering time, is that correct or any other things I should check?
Thank you fellow drivers

Maybe worth trying a known good (or new) car battery and disabling GPS time sync, in addition to a BSI reset?

What system do you have RT3 / RT4 or non telematics - if not sure pop the VIN up.Banix11 wrote: 13 Nov 2022, 10:30 Hello good friends,

If using one of the above telematics units, the battery is only used for the emergency calling backup (accident / SOS / Emergency Calling). It has no impact on the system date or time settings - that is handled by the vehicle battery. It's the same as when you disconnect the vehicle battery - the unit has to have the date and time set or synchronised via GPS.

Well interestingly enough I didn't try to turn off time sync for some reason and it worked, great, thank you.
But another thing I have a problem with, thinking of BSI again. My service counter went from 14000 to 8000 in a day, then 4000 and now I am due for a service with -200 km.
Again battery or BSI problems?
Marc, thank you, ok I understand now and the one I have is RT3

Not sure about the service indicator - I've not heard of that changing values, but the intervals are determined by the BSI and set when programmed according to engine type and country at factory.

As I am also aware, BSI stores those values.
Interesting, lost 15,000km in 3 days, haha.
For now I am sitting at -200 and it is ok, but don't know why it changed so rapidly.
Do you think BSI is bad?
Thank you

What battery did you fit?

I had Varta 74Ah 680A that died and the replacement one is a brand called Rombat 80Ah and 750a, looking at the maintenance history I changed it on 21st of December 2020.
Never had the car go into economy mode to think the alternator is not charging or battery holding.

Re: C5 2007 2.0 HDI clock losses time
To sum this up, I fixed like this:
Fix 1 - Like Ross said, disabling GPS sync
Fix 2 - I bought a new CD with navigational maps, now the GPS sync works and the time is updated correctly
The service interval counter is now counting regularly, I am currently at -400 km past due service, but at least it is working.
My service counter is clocked on every 20,000 KM but I do it every 10. Since I log everything I do on my car, I know I have around 5,000 KM left. Last summer was the last service I did so I only drove around 5,000 KM since then. Anyway I will do a service now, preventive maintenance cant hurt

Thanks for the update. Fix 2 is interesting. I would have guessed that GPS "just works"...but hey...good news!

Yeah, imagine that, I've asked some owners of the C5 and someone told me to try using a new nav CD, and it worked.
