Re: Wheel meet again!!
I have a five stud Honda (I think, it isn't here) and have been considering another wheel to carry as a spare as it doesn't come with one. Will any fit or is there any of this offset stuff going on.
Wheels baffle me. I don't understand why anyone cares what they look like, although I would happily swap mine for the ones from the retired C5 as they were easy to clean and these aren't.
Found a photo and they are five-hole wheels.
Nightmare to clean, which I intend on doing, one day.

Re: Wheel meet again!!
You're right Mick, the wheels on that orange Escort spoil it completely - they are horrid...
Generally, OEM wheels are the best and rarely can they be improved upon... Classic Minilites though are the exception to prove the rule and look great on many cars... Early Xantia V6s and some V6 XMs had a Minilite lookalike and they looked awesome on those cars but a nightmare to keep clean...
Slot mags look good too... The 'take' on slot mags as fitted to the Xantia Activa look good and suit the car beautifully...

Here's a list:
https://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Honda/C ... 2011).html
That says your offset is 55 but it's worth double-checking. The ET number should be stamped on the wheel somewhere, probably on the inside...
It's a little bit of customisation in a world of dreary carsI don't understand why anyone cares what they look like, although I would happily swap mine for the ones from the retired C5 as they were easy to clean and these aren't.
Cleaning? Just get a can of alloy wheel cleaning foam, apply liberally, go for a cup of tea and hose off. Job done. Although I wash my car once a year so probably not the best person to give valeting advice
I tend to stick with OEM wheels as I don't want to have an awkward conversation with my insurance company some day about undeclared modifications

Thanks Ross.
They are fiddly to clean, needs a toothbrush.

Re: Wheel meet again!!
I'm always amazed at the muck on the rear of wheels, normally say 15 years of accumulated baked on muck and brake dust. I used to go at this mess reasonably gently, but now just head to what's proved effective: wire wool and a bucket of soapy water. A good scrub with a chuck of wire wool acting as a sponge then intermediate rinsed with a bit of water and the thick muck comes away. Paintwork seems to tolerate this ok (but it's the back of the wheel don't think anyone would really care)

Do you mean to say that you don't have all the wheels off and clean them every Sunday morning Matt? Used to be our neighbour's religious act of the week on his A40 Farina!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Wheel meet again!!
Does anyone want to play a "guess the wheel" from the back round on these two?

Re: Wheel meet again!!
I often think of removing the wheels and cleaning the inside.
That is the extent of it though.

Same here One advantage of having drum brakes... The wheels stay a lot cleaner for longer ...

Re: Wheel meet again!!
Ha ha, the time to do that would be marvelous, as it stands cars here are sadly washed about 6 monthly. I do consider washing them more frequently, but find even the mere thought triggers dark clouds to draw near!mickthemaverick wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 20:23 Do you mean to say that you don't have all the wheels off and clean them every Sunday morning Matt? I'd like to be one of these fastidious detailing nerds but it's not happened yet!

Re: Wheel meet again!!
It's worth clarifying the back of the wheel clean is about once / cars time in my ownership.
Does make the wheels a bit less grim to handle (and the amount of muck that comes off feels like a meaningful reduction in unsprung mass! Placebo effect in action really)

Re: Wheel meet again!!
I try to rotate the tyres every 5000 miles or so and generally give them a quick blast with the pressure washer as I do it but that's as far as it goes!

Re: Wheel meet again!!
Tried the pressure washer, made barely an impression on the rear surfaces muck as pictured above.
I have resprayed a few sets of wheels too, that's satisfying (only to bog standard silver, no exotic shades)

Re: Wheel meet again!!
Lazy quick method (wait till new tyres required, paint then tyre swap= no masking required!)
