Unread post by Rp0thejester »

My C8 passed its MOT today, I don't know how but she did. My question is....I have dpf warnings, it says it's faulty etc. So can someone explain these emission results to me please.

Pmsl!! I was telling everyone my car is an easy fail which is mine got done before theirs, and she passed!! But the faulty dpf should of made it fail surely. OR is she lying to me with dodgy electrics??

It could be the one of the sensors are faulty giving false readings.

My son's golf diesel is doing the same.

Other thing to add is diesel emissions test at MOT: rev engine to governed maximum, unloaded doesn't ask a lot of the engine or fuel system. Unless you've got something seriously wrong (e.g EGR jammed open) or the car hasn't seen redline once in the twelve months since last it was in for the test (some folks labour diesels routinely, year round. That blast of 4500+ rpm clears the pipes somewhat!) Then should not pose too much challenge for MOT emissions test.

A pass is a pass! :-D

Speaking of sooty emissions, that MOT station needs to clean the toner out of their laser printer

Not a toner issue. Either the photo-optic drum or the fuser is shot.

If the risk of filter clogging warning comes on as soon as you start the engine, and it's done 100k + miles, then the ECU has probably decided the DPF is end of life with the ash content. However as you have seen if the pressure are OK, it will keep working and regenning. Eventually it will cause problems, but in the mean time, you can tell the computer a new DPF has been fitted and the nagging will go away!
