C4 Pic 2014 Exclusive (B87) Particle Filter Issue

C4 Pic 2014 Exclusive (B87)

Afternoon all,

Sorry if this question has been asked before :-)

I've had the "Particle filter additive level too low:Have the vehicle repaired"
Having had a look around In these great forums I believe there is either a "pouch" or a "Tank" that needs replacing/filling.
Would someone please be kind enough to tell me or show me a diagram where said item is located on my vehicle.
Even better, is how to replace/refill and what fluid I would need.
Also is there a reset I have to do to the vehicle ECU/Computer.

@marc I beleive you already have my VIN number :-)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Husky,

Many thanks for the info, and I understand the process now.
Unfortunately my car is the later gen version (2014) not the same style as that shown in the video (2010).
So I was wondering what type & where the tank/pouch is located :-)

Just pulled this off the net thought id drop it here

If you're driving a modern diesel you may well have spotted your car needs AdBlue because there's a second filler neck behind the fuel flap. Not so with the Grand C4 Picasso – its 17-litre tank is accessed, less conveniently, under the right-hand side third row seat.5 Oct 2015

Hi Zane

Yes you require Powerflex Additive and your vehicle has a hard reservoir.

You do need to inform the engine ECU that you have topped up the tank by resetting the additive counter. The additive fluid in the tank itself is not measured, it is calculated by the engine ECU, so without performing this operation it won't know you have filled it up and will continue to give warnings.

The tank is gravity fed and you can buy the fluid in containers with or without a filling kit.

Early B78 picassos with the 1.6HDI 92/114hp DV6C engine doesn't use adblue, only Eolys.
The later 1.6 BlueHDI 100/120hp DV6FD uses Eolys and adblue, the 2 litre diesel DW10FD used Eolys and adblue from the start.
On most PSA cars the filler for adblue is in the boot, exept on the vans
I have various repair handbooks and wiring diagrams for C5 mk1, Xantia, XM, Berlingo and C3 mk1.
I have Lexia/Diagbox (Sweden) and Servicebox/sedre

Zane: You can purchase Powerflex Additrive from plenty of places on line - just google it. eBay is a good place to start.

Typical Filling Kit
1 Additive reservoir (Containing either 1 or 3 litres).
1 Filler pipe with click-on connector (With stop valve for the 3 litre packaging).
1 Retaining net for the product container (Packaging for 1 litre(s)).
1 adaptor(8/10 mm diameter).
1 Empty drum for overfill.
1 Equipment necessary for suspending the can of product .
1 Retaining net for the overflow container.

1 litre = Partial additive top-up only (recommended)
3 litres = Servicing of the filter or replacement of the reservoir

Note: for your DV6C vehicle you must add a minimum of 0,94 litres.

CAUTION: Never exceed 1,5 litres of additive in the additive reservoir.

Refilling

Raise the vehicle, wheels hanging.
Remove the protection on the fuel additive reservoir.
zane A.PNG
  • Uncouple the pipe (1) (at "a").
  • Couple the additive container to the tube (1) using the adaptor and pipe (with tap) from the filling kit.
  • Connect the empty container to the filler tube , suspending it on the holder
.
Zane B.PNG
Place the additive drum at a higher level than the additive reservoir.
1 litre can of product:
Use the retaining net provided in the kit
Pierce the additive container (At the place indicated by a triangle on the container)
Add the quantity desired, depending on the value (quantity of additive consumed) read via the diagnostic tool.

3 litre can of product:
Open the valve located on the click-fit filler pipe (If necessary, tilt the can to facilitate the end of filling)
Add the quantity desired, depending on the value (quantity of additive consumed) read via the diagnostic tool.
When all of the fluid has flowed out, release the click-fit filler pipe .
Click fit the additive reservoir filler pipe (1).
Refit the protection on the fuel additive reservoir.

CAUTION:
1) Prime the fuel additive circuit using the diagnostic equipment.
2) Reset the counter of the additive ECU to zero using the diagnostic equipment.

Hi Marc,

Many thanks mate.

DO you know how much additive the tank takes at all please.
I don't want to go buy 3 ltrs if I only need 1ltr

Cheers

They can vary model to model but for the DV6C engine which is yours, I would stick to the 1 litre as this is also the minimum you should add during a topping up operation and as said no more than 1.5 litres in the reservoir, so it looks like you will have a smaller tank.

In order to be exact, you would need to dismantle the physical tank from its mountings and extract the fluid and measure it - so given all the above, I recommend on this vehicle a 1L top up.

No Zane - it MUST be Powerflex! You cannot mix certain additives or you risk damaging the pump.
