HELP! I accidentally conected the Lexia 3 conector on chip backwards, pluged it in the car and car died
Hi, i have Lexia 3 clone from Alliexpress 9780.Z5 full chip and when i was doing global test it showed NO Dialogue on all ECU except Ignition, Gearbox and Suspension YES dialogue but coult not read fauilts.
So i opened the Lexia to see if it is a full chip and when i was assembling it back i mistakenly connected the the connector on the lexia chip backwards (not knowing i did that i will also post a picture), i pluged it like that in to my Citroen C5 2007 pluged it in to the PC and Run the software and imediatly when i put ingnition on the car went crazy, i disconected the Lexia, and try to put the ignition on and start the car and it started showing errors on the Navigation display, there is some constant buzzing sound next to the hydroactive pump under the hood when i put ignition on, car wont start at all not cranking, not even clicking, and power steering turns on when i only put ignition on, locking and unlocking works , navigation turns on lights in enterior works, the car suspension seems to work but car wont start, I did a BSI reset and it was still the same, i did it again and wait for 1 hour when i disconected the battery and still the same, i checked the fuses they seem ok, so i don't know what to do now, does anybody know of what damage could my stupid mistake have done, is there now damage to the ECU or BSI and how to solve my problem ?
Here is an Image of what i did https://postimg.cc/9rxPzQKv https://postimg.cc/9rxPzQKv

Double check all the fuses first including under bonnet & maxi fuses. Do you have power at pin 16 of the OBD socket?

Presuming the pin out for the plug on the board is the same order as the pin out for the plug that goes into the diagnostic socket I've done a little research for you. I pulled up a pinout diagram of the OBD2 socket:

Then ran an algorithm to rotate the pin allocations emulating the plug being rotated, and compared that to the original allocations:
To me, who is more clanky than sparkytronix, it looks as though you might have gotten lucky, with the exception of pins 2 + 15 being reversed, putting a J1850 bus hi to the ISO 9141-2 Low, there's no major damage causing stuff I can see there. There was a worry in my mind about pin 16 on the socket which is battery voltage, going somewhere it wasn't meant to, like to a data line. But it's "dance partner" in the rotation is an optional pin that may or may not be in use, , so I'm relatively optimistic that you haven't done anything that prompted the angry pixies to let the magic smoke out of the ECU network. I'd go through the battery off procedure, power down the vehicle completely for a few minutes, during which time you can check every fuse, then once you're done with the fuses, reconnect the battery and power the vehicle up again and, fingers crossed you'll be golden.

Yes exactly i was comparing the same reverse diagram before, and later at night could not sleep and went back in the garage, so when i put ignition on there is a clicking noise coming from the BSI at an interval of around 5 or 10 seconds, so i took my Thermal camera to double check the fuses (I removed them manualy also), so first i tested the fuse box inside the car and seen that the shunt fuse have higher temperature when i remove the key, but i quess that is because the BSI takes power for aditional 3 minutes from the battery until it goes to sleep, than i went to check the fuse box under the bonet and fuses seems ok BUT, under the fuses there is one relay of the BSI labeled YH119 S0438 (i will upload picture from the exact relay) that have very high temperature on the thermal camera when i put ignition on, now i am not sure if that supose to recive electicity when ingition is on or that might be the problem.Jay-Bruce wrote: 31 Aug 2022, 11:47 Presuming the pin out for the plug on the board is the same order as the pin out for the plug that goes into the diagnostic socket I've done a little research for you. Is it posible to replace (solder a new one) only that relay on the BSI motherboard or would i need a new BSI and is there cloning of old BSI involved if i change it to new one ?
Here is the picture of the relay that shows high temperature when i put ignition on:

I would like to preface any advice I offer by saying that my speciality is not electronics, but I know a little but, so you will best getting a second opinion on the following. However, that said, surely if the relay is clicking, the relay itself is functioning, the problem must be that it's receiving an intermittent rather than constant trigger signal, suggestin something else on the board is not functioning as intended? As such I'd say that replacing the relay wouldn't solve your problem. Also, the more I think about it, a relay is in and of itself a fairly robust component, unlikley to have been affected by voltage going to the wrong terminals, the same cannot be said for the itsy bitsy teeny weeny computer / electronic components that would control said ruffty tuffty relay. As such, regrettably, I think you are looking at plan B, the replacement then clone-coded BSI.

The relay circled is on the BSM (under bonnet fusebox). The BSI is inside the car.
I would also agree with the above, I would say (without getting hands on with it) that it is more likely the relay is being told to do that rather than the relay being faulty. The BSM is not a coded part so can be swapped from another same spec model mo problem. Its very possible that the BSM electronics have blown but I would think that the actual soldered on relay is fine. Most automotive 4 & 5 pin relays are not polarity specific
Do you have power at the diag socket??

I can only add more guesswork, but I think that it is more likely that you have damaged either the BSI or engine ECU. Both of those are coded parts.
Maybe you should consider getting a set of ECUs and key from a breaker, so you can at least narrow the scope. Beware that your instrument cluster will inherit a higher mileage from a replacement BSI.

Re: HELP! I accidentally conected the Lexia 3 conector on chip backwards, pluged it in the car and car died
Thank you all for commentig, so yes i have tested all the fuses in the car and there was one fuse for the starter that was blown, i replaced it with a new one, but the problem is still here, I have checked the voltage on the OBD port and it shows 11.88 V so it has power, i checked the ground for continuity and it is ok, i did a measurment on the resistance on CAN High and CAN low and the Multimeter shows exactly 60 Ohms, so i think the OBD is ok except that i am missing some ports on it (i will post picture of my OBD port) but i think that is because of the high speed CAN protocol, the missing ports are number : 2, 9, 10, 11 and 15
I will have a guy mechanic come over today with his diagnostic tool to see what errors wil the care give, so i will post after that.

It would be pretty rare to see an OBD socket where all the terminals are populated.

I've never seen a fully pinned up OBD2 socket, but looking att hat photo you can see that pin 1 is populated - which is really bad
as is means unfortunately the 12v pattery voltage pin connected to an optional pin that PSA opted to use. On another vehicle, assuming pin 1 wasn't in use, he might have gotten away with the mistake he made with the orientation of the connector.

So you put in a car diagnostic reader that made it crazy, so now your gunna put someone else's reader on it, okay. I'm assuming you've put the chip the right way round in your reader and tried it.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: HELP! I accidentally conected the Lexia 3 conector on chip backwards, pluged it in the car and car died
Ok, so i wanted to post an update, yesterday my buddy came with two of his diagnostic tools, he owns a car mechanic shop and is an electrical engineer so he run a full scan on the car with both of his diagnostic tools (not Lexia but, profesional expensive ones) and he had access in all the systems except the ECU unit, and came to a conclusion that the ECU must be faulty, i know that he could access it before because i had my car in his shop last month and he was abble to read the ECU with the same diagnostic tools but not anymore, so he contacted his friend who does ECU repairs and lives near by to try and repair the ECU or if can't repair it he will clone the EPROM with FLEX from the original to new ECU.

Re: HELP! I accidentally conected the Lexia 3 conector on chip backwards, pluged it in the car and car died
Before going to all that expense, pull the BSM (under bonnet computer controller), take a photo of the fuse layout and use a very fine nail file to clean ALL of the fuse beds. We have all manner of stupid with our car a few years ago and it turned out the fuses had got damp, grotty connections and chaos ensued
I did the above cleaning and all became well again.
However, you CAN (as suggested) pick up a BSM fairly cheap so long as the numbers match yours. I can't honestly remember WHICH numbers, but I imagine one of the chaps will happen along to help

Has anyone seen the plot?

Well i tried replicating the same scenario and tested every posible combination for continuity on the back end of conector and it turns out pin 16 (battery power) have full continuity with pin number 5 (signal ground or in citroen elctronic earth so the 12 v went straight in to the electronic earth. There was also two other links for continuity but lucky those pins are unpopulated.Jay-Bruce wrote: 31 Aug 2022, 11:47 Presuming the pin out for the plug on the board is the same order as the pin out for the plug that goes into the diagnostic socket I've done a little research for you. Now the problem is i can't any wiring diagrams for Citroen C5 from 2006/7 to see where that electronic earth is conected to.
