Hi everyone,
Can anybody enlighten me on what these codes actually mean?
P2566, P2562, P1496, P11AA, P1497.
There is a brief description for two of them.
P2566 Turbo position copy signal blocked when engine switched off.
P2562 Turbo copy signal difference between setting and position exceeding min or max limit.
The other codes ,
Refer to vehicle service manual.
All of them are referred to as temporary faults.
This maybe to do with the Engine Fault repair warning coming on around 3200rpm?

Re: Fault codes
Pop your VIN up so we can relate the codes specifically to the vehicle.

Re: Fault codes
Ok, so a C5 XC7 with the 2.0 DW10CTED4 163 engine. Here are the fault descriptors for you as they relate to this engine.
| Fault Code: | P2566 |
| Description of Fault: | Variable geometry turbocharger : Excessive drift on the last initialisations of the upper stop. Drift less than -0,5 V or greater than 0,5 V in the initialisation of the variable geometry turbocharger upper limit relative to the first initialisation. Drift less than -0,3 V or greater than 0,3 V in the initialisation of the variable geometry turbocharger upper limit, relative to the last initialisation the previous time the network (powerlatch) went to sleep. The fault is triggered just after the initialisation of the upper stop. The fault immediately appears |
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | 3 successive starts, allowing time for the network to go to sleep (Power latch). |
| Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: | None Identified |
| Symptoms: |
|
| Suspect Areas: |
|
| Fault Code: | P2562 |
| Description of Fault: | Variable geometry turbocharger : Position incorrect in relation to the requirement ; Not enough turbocharging. The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 40 % for 6 seconds. Fault is triggered when the engine is running. |
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | Driving with the engine hot for 5 minutes |
| Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: | Deactivation of the EGR function |
| Symptoms: |
|
| Suspect Areas: |
|
| Fault Code: | P1496 |
| Description of Fault: | Variable geometry turbocharger : Position incorrect in relation to the requirement (Too much turbocharging pressure). The position measured is less than the reference by more than 30 % for 5 seconds. The fault is triggered after the engine has been running for at least 6s. |
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | Driving with the engine hot for 5 minutes |
| Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: | |
| Symptoms: | None
|
| Suspect Areas: |
|
| Fault Code: | P11AA |
| Description of Fault: | Air circuit: Maximum turbo pressure exceeded. Incoherence between the position of the turbocharger electrovalve measured and the turbo air pressure measured, detected by the turbo pressure being above 3 bars for 1,5 seconds. Fault is triggered when the engine is running (Mixer copy less than 50%). |
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | Driving with engine hot for 5 minutes with several accelerations under full load. |
| Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: |
|
| Symptoms: |
|
| Suspect Areas: |
|
| Fault Code: | P1497 |
| Description of Fault: | Variable geometry turbocharger : Position incorrect in relation to the requirement - Not enough turbocharging. The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 30 % for 6 seconds. The fault is triggered when the engine has been running for at least 6s. |
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | Driving with the engine hot for 5 minutes. |

Re: Fault codes
Sounds bad?.
Turbo charger failing or vacuum valve?
Any ideas, anybody else experienced similar issues

I'd certainly be looking at the solenoid first before anything else.

Re: Fault codes
Ok thanks for the advice. Car is in for a new fly wheel for a couple of days. I'll speak with the mechanic when I pick it up tomorrow.

Re: Fault codes
It turned out to be a blanking cap missing from the vacuum system. So once that was fixed. Problem was solved.

I think I need to start again and check my entire vac system too. Thanks.

Was that before or after the flywheel was fitted?Jedders wrote: 02 May 2023, 12:33 It turned out to be a blanking cap missing from the vacuum system. So once that was fixed. Problem was solved.

Yeah that was another story, had a new clutch and flywheel and it felt like the car was on a fast spin cycle! Replaced and like silk now
