Post by ohspecial1 »

Hi

Sorry if this sounds silly

But my coolant is on min nemo 2010 with 27k on the clock supposedly been serviced but unsure when but im guessing it would have to be otherwise comes up on the dashboard

Is it uncommon to be low on coolant especially with mileage or could i be losing it or have an issue thats why they got rid of it

Cannot find what 1 to use have a copy of the owners manual and states Only use the fluid recommended by the
manufacturer bloomin helpful

Thanks

Hello
Is the coolant "low" as the level is on MIN or is the reservoir empty?

Red/pink longlife coolant is what it uses.
I have various repair handbooks and wiring diagrams for C5 mk1, Xantia, XM, Berlingo and C3 mk1.
I have Lexia/Diagbox (Sweden) and Servicebox/sedre

The coolant should be filled to the MAX mark on the header tank (when the engine is cold), but never over the MAX limit as there needs to be room for expansion.

That's a possibility but it depends on whether the coolant expansion tank has EVER been topped up. It's possible the expansion tank has never been topped up. In that case the rate of loss of coolant is not worth investigating. But you'll never know. During the period you have owned it, has the coolant level gone down?

Being a second hand vehicle you have no way of knowing what is in the cooling system. Could be original...might not? It's not recommended that you mix different types/brands of coolant.
If you just want to "top up" the coolant (for the time being) just add distilled water. You can use the stuff you buy in a supermarket at about 50p a litre.
If the level continues to go down...you will definitely need to get it investigated.
