I was just collared by one of my neighbours, coming home with a load of shopping, much of it frozen.
Dropped the bags on the ground to talk to him. Just come in two hours later to put it away :(

One of the things he was telling me was that he has a degree and was a lecturer at the university, among other things.

His ex-wife once said to him that "You are the cleverest ignorant person I have ever met" :)

Oh you definitely need to work on your "go away, I'm busy!" Subliminal messaging skills.

Either that, or give him a nice heavy, freezing cold bag to hold whilst he jabbers on. Am sure frostbitten fingers will help shorten the waffle a touch :-D

It is - genuinely - so dry down here that we daren't have a BBQ for risk of stray sparks setting sheds, fences, furry pets on fire. I've not smelled a BBQ anywhere 'round here for at least a week, which is most unusual. I've stayed away from the countryside for much the same reason - all too easy to either cause a fire, or be blamed for a fire if you were seen anywhere near in the hour before one happens. There have been a few highly alarming fires near here over the last few weeks.

Yeah it's extremely dry here as well, I wouldn't attempt it if I didn't have 2 fire extinguishers handy

Driving over long grass with a hot catalytic convertor is enough bobins. did it myself on my driveway at my last address, luckily it was only the drive.

I sold one of those for a neighbour who had bought it for fun then regretted it.
