Hi and well come.
They are those little round things in your bumper, see picture. I the faulty one will not Vibrate when VERY lightly placing your finger on it when it is activated.

Re: Distance sensor
Just to consider:
My C5 has a parking sensor fault, in my case on Diagbox it states "no connection with parking sensor ECU" (so either it's lost power or has failed completely - I'm still to dig further into this at a later date. Hoped to get parking ECU to tell me a particular sensor had failed, change that then be functional once more = but not that simple for me at least!)
Good luck,
Matt

Re: Distance sensor
Diagbox will tell you exactly which sensor(s) are faulty, but if it does not come up with a specific sensor it may have lost communication with the parking assistance ECU. Read on below for the most likely cause of this, as they rarely go faulty.
As you have just bought the vehicle and without possibly knowing the complete history, it is entirely possible that the previous owner has had a faulty sensor in the past and instead of forking out to replace it, has had the system disabled!
So consider this too. Your best bet is to get Diagbox on it first of all and try to determine where the problem is.
If I'm right on the parking assistance ECU being switched off, then it will need re-enabling first before a diagnostic can pinpoint the faulty sensor if still applicable.
As the system will throw a beep and warning every time the car is started and put into reverse, that could be why the previous owner had it disabled.
Of course this assumes this is the case, but a diagnostic is needed to ascertain the actual cause.

Re: Distance sensor
Thanks Marc, that is interesting to know - from what you say mine mustn't be switched off as I get the "parking system error" warning plus beep the first time you put it into reverse (silent after then till key out and back in again)
Conscious I may be derailing the OP's post as we may be slightly different problems,

Re: Distance sensor
In your case Matt, it's likely to be one or more sensors.

Re: Distance sensor
Hi people, thanx for the info. I have found the distance located behind the front bumper, 2 wires were broken so repaired them & now its telling me that front left & front right sensors not working so getting closer in resolving it

Re: Distance sensor
Diagbox can tell you which sensors are faulty, but without a suitable diagnostic, you will have to use the finger touch to check for slight vibration / static feedback when lightly touched.
