Well I never knew.....I have just spotted that a single

J

was a vehicle registration Area code for Durham from 1903 to 1964.

Whosoever bringeth an image of a vehicle sporting the single J Durham Vehicle area code on its registration plate to the pages of our humble thread, shall indeed be worthy of our appreciation and gratitude, and fulsome praise.

Having no real life experience to draw on for my selection of a Durham beer I decided to browse the options until I found one with at least a tenuous link to the FCF! :-D After much deliberation, and without a single tasting, I have come up with a beer that does at least represent a favoured venue within the FCF faithful:

With that delicious offering I have reached the terminus of my contributions to Durham :-D

Thanks MicK and well found with the J. Nice to see Judith Mavis Cock featuring in the tenuous music link.

I'll probably include something from Washington's Brian Ferry, or Witton Gilbert's McAloon Brothers Prefab Sprout.

Another visit under the Tyne and into County Durham today, and a nice riverside play area on the Jarrow side. Didn't do it today but a nice little round trip can be made through the Cycling/Pedestrian Tunnel down the Cycle path to South Shields, Ferry across to North Shields and follow the Hadrian Cycleway back to the Tunnel at the North Side.

One of those photo opportunities round the back of the Metro centre
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 22 Jul 2019, 16:31 The river Derwent in County Durham, flows from the moors above Consett down to the Tyne by the MetroCentre.

While IKEA was satisfying some of our household needs, I did my usual and had a mooch around with the dog round the paths and cycleways for an hour or so, and came across this bridge across the Derwent.

Find me a more overengineered passage for a sewage pipe across a river in the entire world!

It has its own "bridge" :!:

I think is round about the time to pass the baton onto Kent, which has achieved the honour of coming out last of the 92 historic counties of England. It deserves a decent final fling so if you can join in Mondays selection inevitably is Kent.
I see both Brasted and Orpington are within historic Kent Boundaries so a couple of holiday stays one in 1968, and the other pre motor show at earls court in the 1970's will count.

To sign off a picture of a National Garage, and a DMU passing Villa Real Bungalows nr Consett

Rootes Garage in Maidstone has already graced the pages of the "Garages Gallery Ancient and Modern" thread, but lies languishing in the unlooked at archives of the FCF. Not today, it returns to the spotlight on Kent's day in the spotlight for a new audience or a memory jog for those who recall its first outing.
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 24 Aug 2020, 18:12 There really is some excellent items of interest on the FCF. Maybe when a 30 minute video is posted up, not many take the time to watch it all, but following Peter's reference to the Art-Deco former Peugeot Garage in Maidstone, and mentioning there were a few video's on it, I dug one out and have just watched the 30 Minutes.....I found it fascinating stuff. As the presenter was exploring the vacant building prior to redevelopment he was greeted with the sight towards the end of the video of a floor full of snooker tables........

Took this one of a Maidstone Corporation Trolley Bus hiding away in the sheds at the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft.....this one is in "ochre and Cream"

PS
I like a "Coats of arms"...here's Maidstone's has an "Agriculture and Commerce" motto and a "Horse's Head Argent gorged with a Chaplet of Hops fructed proper" It is of course the only coat of arms to have an Iguanadon as a bearer....https://museum.maidstone.gov.uk/explore ... iguanodon/
