retro fitting parking senors on C5

Post by d4vy »

Hi all,

Im new to the forum and also new to my 2009 C5 vtr+

it had the pop out holes in the lower rear skirt for sensors so I ordered a set of plug and play sensors with their own module and buzzer, all I need is a live feed for power and a ground.

Can anyone tell me before I start ripping things apart I don't need to, the best way/place to get a live feed from the reverse lights?

TIA

You should not take any live feed from the lighting circuit. The only connection to the lighting circuit should be the reversing light signal. The original system would have a specific parking assistance module wired and fused into the vehicles' loom specifically for it to power the system and the sensors and going back to the BSI.

Obviously I can't advise with a third party unit - but I can tell you Citroen do supply and fit aftermarket reversing sensors. They would at least wire it correctly for you.

I have not had any issues connecting the power lead for the reversing sensor module to the wire going to the reverse light bulb in two such installations- a 2005 C4 and a 2007 207CC.

I just mentioned it as we have no way of knowing what system he has fitted and what the power requirements are. Anything like this should ideally be properly wired and fused with only the reversing light signal taken from the reversing light wire. I've seen melted housings caused by accessories poorly fitted and not separately supplied and fused, hence why I mentioned it.
