What DS5 Head Unit is this?

This is the Connected NAV system.
Main Features: It is a fully integrated Telematics System featuring CarPlay, Android Auto, Real Time Services, Voice Commands, High-Res Display, 3D Navigation, Bluetooth Hands Free & USB. 2 versions of the system are available NAC (Navigation Audio Connectée) and RCC (Radio Couleur Connectée) or Connected Colour Radio, which does not have the Integrated Navigation or Live Services.

So is what you call "Touchscreen" a specific model?

To me it's a descriptive word, not a model name.

PSA use it as both. I am using it as the name of the system shortened to 7" Touchscreen as that is what they refer to it as (7" Touchscreen Tablet). If I am referring to the Connected NAV (NAC / RCC) units I'll use Connected Nav / NAC

Marc
Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I am interested to know some technical data in relation to the audio section of the telematics on my late 2015 DS4 Crossback. I believe you refer to it as NAC being the touchscreen unit with the reversing camera. The unit seems to be better than the RT6 unit in my C5 which has a Philips amplifier as part of original supply for the car. In particular I am interested to know what the power of the NAC audio unit is (eg watts RMS per channel). It really is a good little unit. Maybe the impressive quality of it relates to (assisted by) the aftermarket speakers installed. No, they aren’t Focals unfortunately as I was too late getting onto that “special” marketed by PSA.

Hi Don. You don't have the Connected NAC or NAV unit, you have the SMEG (nothing to do with the Italian Domestic Appliance manufacturer :-D ) 7" Touchscreen fitted, which is the top picture.

These have 'customer-friendly' names as well as internal names used by PSA at the time. I only referred to the more commonly used name used in the owner handbook, to avoid introducing another layer of confusion. But there were several incarnations of the 'SMEG' system with later versions supporting Apple CarPlay / Android Apps.

PSA don't supply internal data for the units, only the connections and functionality of the units, but they were the replacement to the RT6 and have now been superseded by the RCC (without navigation) / NAC (with navigation) systems from at least 2017 to date.

Only some SMEG 7" touchscreen units were fitted to the last run of the C5 X7s before they ceased production, but the Connected NAC system was never fitted.

Thanks Marc, that tells me that the C5 for sale in Australia and described as “Finale” most likely has the Smeg unit similar/same as my Crossback.

I admit that wanting technical data was a big ask. Considering that my wife doesn’t allow me to take advantage of the relatively small amount of watts available in the Crossback, it is somewhat academic. At domestically permissible levels it is a satisfactory unit at the end of the day.

Your detailed response is appreciated as always.

I think it's actually the SMEG+, or possibly even the SMEG+ IV2, unit that was fitted. The SMEGs, whilst similar, were an earlier unit.

That looks like an RT6 unit to me. No idea about Android replacements though.

NotAnInterestingName wrote: 11 May 2022, 13:25 Hello. I'm just about to enter the world of DS5 ownership, all very exciting. I understand there were various different head units at different times, I wondered if someone here would know what unit it was from a blurry photo (attached)? Sorry, it's the best I have at the moment.

Image

I've ordered it but haven't collected it yet, I'm looking at what sat nav update options there are. It's a 2016 DS-brand DS5 Prestige 2.0 HDi Auto Stop/Start. It doesn't have the dial and buttons by the handbrake that I've seen on earlier models, just a little sweetie tub instead.

Many thanks.
I'm so glad i found this post  I was about to put a new post on requesting the same, I think i have exactly the same unit as you but couldnt find it in the list of headunits and pics at the start of the forum :-k Mine is a touchscreen with Mirrorlink so guessing it's the same, the Smeg? Does anyone know if i can use the mirrorlink on an Iphone?

I have only just purchased my first DS around 4 weeks ago, a 2015 (65 Plate) Blue HDI 180 DS5 Auto. I'm in a current love/hate relationship with it due to a few issues which the garage have hopefully now sorted [-o<

Just wanted to see regarding sound upgrade if anyone had done this yet and also as you said if we can get updates for the system easy enough?

Hi

Mirrorlink is more or less discontinued now.

Most manufacturers have withdrawn support now including Samsung. Basically if you have the old Mirror Link App on your compatible phone it may continue to work until the App is removed from your phone, then it's gone for good as it is no longer available to install.

If you have a Touchscreen system in your DS5 than it is very likely to be the SMEG system. I can confirm with your VIN. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Thanks Marc, appreciate the reply :) The speaker set up seems pretty basic too unfortunately so i'm hoping to upgrade them if possible? The rest i can live with as i can play music using my iphone but it is quieter for some reason doing it that way. Also when i'm talking to people through on the phone using the hands free they say i sound far away, is there a way of improving this at all? Sorry for all the questions, in general i love the car but this is my first dabble into the French car market so learning as i go #-o

My VIN is - VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Ok, so confirmed you have the SMEG Digital Receiver unit fitted. Bluetooth streaming is never going to be as good because it doesn't support lossless. Although this isn't an issue for most people on the go in the car to be honest.

Make sure the Head Unit firmware is up to date, as updated firmware provides for later Bluetooth protocols and may address some issues.

Thanks Marc for the info, much appreciated :) I have the car booked in with Citroen tomorrow for a vehicle health check (as my warranty from where i bought it from will expire in the next week and just wanted some peace of mind before it does [-o< ) so i'll ask to see if they are able to do a firmware update while they have it :-k
