ADBLUE TANK REPLACEMENT TELECODING

Post by Dash11 »

Hi everybody,
So I'm the lucky :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: owner of a 2016 c4 GP 120 1.6 bluehdi.

I have diagbox which I regularly use for maintenance.

Now I got a dead adblue tank ... =D> =D> =D>
fault code U029E 87 permanent
ECU EDC17C60? test shows "not communicating with denox system"
DENOX system relay control test OK
NOX sensor heating test OK
UREA reservoir heating test FAIL
UREA pipe heating test FAIL
UREA injector control test FAIL "urea solution pressure out of range"

The part number is PSA 9818559280

My question is: if I buy a replacement tank with the same part number - will it need online telecoding at the Citroen dealer or will the ECU accept the new tank and U029E 87 go away?

Hope this makes sense :taz:

Hi and welcome.

Yes, the UREA pump module is a multiplexed unit communicating on the DEPOL CAN and so does need configuring if removed or replaced. Mine does on the C3 Aircross so I suspect it is the same with you.

ok... funny thing is, that I have read somewhere( I think it was on a Peugeot forum) that if tank is before a certain date and with the same part number it should be plug and play? 🤔

I can't be 100% certain for the older systems, but certainly the pump will need priming via Diagbox which shouldn't require any telecoding, but I can't say for sure regarding the configuration.
