"Type C" display software version

This unit is the RD4 or RD45 system, made by Continental.
Usually standard equipment unless another system is specified as an option. There are Single & Dual Tuner versions. RD45 features over the RD4: The RD45 has USB connectivity & integrated Bluetooth module supporting Phone & Audio Streaming.

"Type C" display software version

Post by mricsi97 »

Hello everyone!

Recently I've ordered an RD45 from aliexpress for my Peugeot 207 SW (2013), but I'm unable to use the bluetooth function, because the multifunction display doesn't show the hands-free / telephone menu. So I was about to order a Diagbox to set it up, but I've read on the forums that the MFD software also has to be higher than V70 (or V71?) as well.

So my question would be if it is possible to determine the software version (with a good, but not necessarily complete certainty) from the VIN number for example, or any other way other than purchasing a pricy Diagbox.

The VIN is: VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
The display menu looks like this, except the 4th menu option is missing (picture from google, but it's the same):

You'd have to remove the display and check out the software version on the rear of the unit on the label.

Operation successful! And good news, software version is V73.2

Now this makes me curious why couldn't they activate the hands-free function in an official Peugeot service... They basically charged me 28 USD for connecting their diagnistic tool to the car and deleting some errors, and I had to wait 1 whole month for my appointment. Guess I have to do everything I'm able to myself. Okay, rant over.

So I guess it's safe to say I'll be able to activate the bluetooth menu with a Diagbox. Does the diagbox software version matter, or can I just order one with the latest stable version?

Avoid V9.** of Diagbox as it doesn't support manual ECU configuration, so stick to version 7.62 and you will be fine.

I've been looking around for 7.62, but couldn't find any. Most of them come with version 7.83 CD. I also found one with 7.76 CD and a few with 7.57 CD. But the confusing part is that some of the 7.83 CD ones show a picture with incremental update files from 7.01 to 7.66 (including even 7.62 as a step). So how can I update to these versions if the software on the CD (7.83) is already above those versions? Which one do you think I shall order?

Stick to 7.57 in that case - it's a stable version.

How do you go about configuring the Type C screen in BSi using Diagbox?

Please can you point me at the right direction? When I do a global scan I get "ECU not found" under display.

Thanks in advance

That's hard to answer without knowing the context in which your are asking.

RD4 to RD45
Telematics Unit (RT3, RT4, RT5, RT6, RNEG, NG4 etc to RD4 or RD5.....

The Type C MFD is an ECU so won't be available unless it is fitted and won't probably won't be detected unless the other BSI options are correctly configured - which is impossible for us to do remotely on a Forum without knowing what you have already and what you are trying to do.

I would have a read of this before you start changing anything or you can leave your vehicle crippled:

does matter what version of diagbox you get, even i you get the higher version, in order to install diagbox you have to start from version 7.02, from there then you go up, you can stop to the version you wont! The software come with all the update you need to get to the version you desired...Also, i give you a tip: if you don't find the options for the radio you need on Peugeot 207 (i don't think you will) you should looking on other cars! for my experience If the handsfree kit is disable, you can't enable it from Peugeot 207 (at least in my case) because i couldn't find the options) but the Peugeot 308 has it, and you can enable it, "doesn't mater" if is different car if it has what you looking for!! So i suggest you to explore the thing before give up! I have Citroen C3 Pluriel, the only way to make my RD45 and display working has been by selecting different car, including Peugeot car.....good luck
