Just ensure the metal clip tabs are not flattened back in from removal. It needs to go back in one side first so the clips (the metal tabs) then push against the trim in the recess to hold it in place. So insert the side opposite the metal tabs first, then swing the unit up so that the metal clips go in last and they should be expanded enough to hold it in place.

Cheers Marc. I shall attempt that. Could've made it simpler tbh :-D I also realized later that apparently I could've just popped the plastic with a spudger or something without removing the whole thing first... Too late for that now.

I cannot figure out where the metal clips are suppose to pop in. Is this the metal piece I'm suppose to hook to something?

Edit: Seems the other metal clip is missing I can only see one. Maybe old owner broke it? Can I use some plastic glue to attach it? I can see on the edges of the assembly some residue, maybe from previous glue.

Yep. One clip is definitely missing.

Yes looks like this has broken. Is this the front assembly? The pictures I provided before were for the rear, but they are similar units. The metal spring clips are just to provide the tension once the unit is put back in place to stop it falling out. The clips don't go into a recess, but just press against the inside of the head lining recess (at the rear) or against the trim of the roof console at the front.

It's the front one this time. Rear one is okay. Can I apply some plastic glue on the sides to hold it there? Seems it was already glued before. With a small layer of glue.

I thought so. The front one snaps in place quite firmly, so I suspect there has been a previous battle and it has snapped off. Again the technique is to release at the correct edge so you push back with a trim tool against the spring clips and lever down at the same time to release.

Is this how the metal clip is suppose to look? When it pops in place into the hole it doesn't really stay.

If it's been bent back, then it may need some gentle bending the other way to ensure it provides some resistance when refitted.

Fit the side with the switches in first then swing in the front part with the clips, as when removed, the part shown at 'a' is where the trim tools is used to push in the clips to release it:

No bueno. Had to use a few drops of super glue to keep in place. It doesn't budge now (so far at least :D)
