Timing belt interval for c4 picasso bluehdi eat6 1.6?

Post by Mexico14 »

Does anyone know the interval for this car please? And what should I be paying for a time belt and water pump replacement?

Hi, if this is for your Picasso VIN ending in 258, then the timing belt service for 'Normal' driving conditions is 112k miles or 10 years, whichever is the soonest, and 110K miles for 'Arduous' conditions / countries.

Here are the other operations specific to your vehicle and the recommended engine oils in case you need them:

Thank you. I'm currently on 91k miles. Will change mine before 100k. Better to be safe than sorry.

Indeed, I wouldn't wait at this mileage to be honest. Consider getting the tensioner rollers and water pump done at the same time given the labour costs of the job. PSA offer kits for most vehicles that include the belt only, the belt and pulley tensioners or the belt, the tensioners and the water pump.

Citroen do an OEM original kit for £245.48 (part: 1610577780) or a cheaper alternative at £168.78 (part: 1681786080). This is for the complete kit - belt, tensioners and coolant pump and includes VAT as of today.

Thanks.
Regarding the ancillary belt and ancillary belt kit. What is contained in the ancillary belt kit? Are both needed if a belt hasn't been changed yet? Or does the kit contain the belt?

Are you talking about the timing belt or the accessory belt? These are two different things.

If Timing - I already answered this above:

The ancillary belt comes separately or as a kit.

The Ancillary kit is part: 1631481680, £198.05 inc. VAT, shown as item (50) below:

On the service interval info you posted it states ancillary drive belt 80k and ancillary drive belt kit at 110k - I was wondering what you get in the kit in addition to the belt?
Am I right in saying you change the belt at 80k, then again 30k later, with the ancillary drive belt kit? Or have I misunderstood it?

Basically they are saying the belt should be replaced at 80K, but the pulleys / tensioners shown at (4) & (5) at 110k,

So if it was me, when I change the belt say at 80K, I would be replacing the whole lot using the kit which includes the items shown as (50), then forget about it, as you'll often find doing so eliminates squeaks and rattles.

It's a pig of a job by all accounts as apart from needing the locking pins for the camshaft , the high pressure fuel pump drive pulley and the crankshaft the left hand engine mounting needs removing so the engine / gearbox assembly needs supporting, so any trolley jack must be able to support the weight.

The engine coolant used is Freecor DSC.

Thanks for your excellent informative explanation. Have been wondering when I would need to replace the belts on my 2015 c4 picasso approximate mileage 75k. From your explanation change all the belts, water pumps and associated pulleys etc at the next service due next February 2023. Whilst the actual cost of the parts are not too prohibitive I would imagine the labour cost will be high.

@eddieoliver45: Please pop your VIN up for me (automasked on post submission) and I'll be able to advise on the timing belt service interval for your specific vehicle.

Yes the labour is the killer on this operation, hence why the pulleys and tensioners and water pump replacements are generally undertaken at the same time so you can generally forget about repeating all the labour later to do the pump etc.

I bought the ancillary belt kit 1631481680 from a seller on ebay. They've supplied the kit with belt 9803757280 -could you check if that is that the correct one for my car please? Ebay says that isn't compatible with my vehicle. A bit worried they've sent the wrong thing!

Tensioner pulley is 9824830580 and 9803757480

1631481680 is the ancillary belt kit, which is item (50) as per my diagram that includes the belt plus the alternator tensioner and dynamic rollers, not just the belt.

The belt on its own is 9803757280 and that is correct for your vehicle.

You have probably entered the incorrect vehicle details on their website and it's another reason why the staff only use official data from the manufacturer based on your VIN.

Hello Marc
We have just purchased a Grand Picasso Exc Air EHdi 1.6, (VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]) unfortunatley the service book was not with the car when we got it, I therefore do not know the service schedule intervals, it was serviced by the delivery garage and we had it serviced based on the dash indications, I dont know if the information you provided above serves my car as well, if so thank you for the information, if not can I thank you in advance for doing so?
