A Kentish man residing in Dorset captured this little piece of the Orkneys on his hols!

Not very good pictures but taken a while back on film. Stroma nearest, uninhabited now except for sheep, Orkneys in background.

Taken from Caithness, has anyone covered that yet? I think nearly all my Caithness pictures are on film so will have to try and find them.

Somewhere in my garage delvings, this is familiar. Not the current price for fuel of course, July 2009.

Edit-it was Sheltland and the Isle of Wight which got a mention as the last outposts of the "National" Fuel Brand owned by BP. ( see garage delvings, )

But a National Branded Filling station, probably one of the last outposts of that iconic logo and sign. Next to the Co-op at Dounby Orkney.

Oh look and it comes straight out of a Scottish Fuels tanker...
When did you last refuel at a National Filling Station?

Well I've run it and we've hit the first of our counties that already have a dedicated thread so we need some originality from here:

which will give us:

Everything about Norfolk will not be included in that thread, and for now is very much on the back burner, so for the next 24 hours Norfolk is indeed the County in the Spotlight.

get your flag out Mick and set the ball rolling. Unless we get desperate for new stuff I'll leave the existing thread alone with the challenge being finding something new!

Norfolk in the Spotlight

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

An interesting Norfolk Headline

John Travolta poses for photos in Norfolk Morrisons and Wetherspoon

I once saw Charles Frere (actor Tony Anholt) of Howard's Way ( at the height of his fame doing a promo in Jarrow Co-op)

Having spent many holidays on the Broads from sailing half deckers, and camping in farmer's fields as a schoolboy, through to hiring a traditional 42ft cabin cruiser for my 60th birthday celebration week, I have many stories and memories of Norfolk. However I will start with a view of the most treasured place of all to me, in fact I plan to have my ashes scattered below it when the time comes! I give you Potter Heigham Bridge:
