How do I identify my BSI part number

Unread post by Remithevan »

Hi,

As per the title really, how do Identify the part number of the BSI unit in my van, after MOT they did a scan as my rear sidelight still flashes sometimes and it showed up an intermitant internal fault in bsi or something.

Contacted an ecu repair company and they said they would beed the bsi part number, I had a look no stickers, and cannot for the life of me see how it comes out as thier are two white plastic tabs that seem to stop you from being able to remove it easily... had this van since nov. Think it will be my first and LAST french car/van one issue after another just to sort a flashing bulb!!!

The ID stickers that the repairer will need will either be on the bottom or the back of the unit. You will probably need to at leas partially remove it to see them. There are quite a few different BSI manufacturers so the location can vary slightly, I woluld imagine the repairer would probably want he manufacturer too. Siemens, Johnson Controls, Valeo etc.

Have you fully removed the BSI to check it? it may not be a sticker or label, it may be embossed in the plastic. Some variations even have part of the bracket clipped onto the device (like the one in the pic below) the label on this BSI is underneath the black bracket which has to be slid out to see it.

Not removed yet, its like the top version big black area has no sticker
Not sure how to get it out, only way I see is to snap off the white prongs on the bottom which seems a bit daft?

You snap the clips to remove them, there are repair clips you are meant to use when re fitting (part no 6580KS) like these > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194683564357 ... SwebhhzbYk
