C5 X7 EGR Bolts

Unread post by osx »

Thanks it's one of the 8 that is missing. Is there a way to secure them in place so they don't get loose gradually with the vibrations etc?

Looks like this one but different part number

These should hold if there tight enough maybe the egr coolant chamber bolt holes are partially worn ? Id not want to use lock tight as this are alloy going into alloy if you do choose to go that route remember these can snap if there done up to tight.

What's the recommended torque for these bolts?

No, those are the incorrect bolts. Stick to the part number I have provided you with if this is the correct item - there are hundreds of bolts - all different diameters, sizes and threads and those are not correct in your link.

As for the torque:
EGR Bolts.JPG
The bolts (9) Tighten to 1 ± 0,1 daN.m
The bolts (11) Tighten to 1 ± 0,1 daN.m
Tighten the bolt (12) to 1 ± 0,1 daN.m.

Oops i said 12 newtons.. yes it is 10 newtons tops..
Becareful of the metal gasket if you plan to move the egr as they can fall then land where its hard to find.

I am concerned about where the missing bolt has gone.
Called the local dealer and they only sell them in a packet of 10.

Yes, had that before when I wanted some clips - I had to buy a bag of 25 boot rings!

Helpfully PSA give the details of the bolt in the part description, so you can get one elsewhere (much cheaper!)

8) MUL Flanged Screw Diam 6 x 100-60, Part: 101116, £2.15

Means it is M6 1.0mm thread pitch and 60mm long. If you've got one of the bolts in hand you should be able to see if it is a HT bolt (stamped 8.8 on the head), and also if it has a shoulder. Should be easy enough to find a supplier to match.

That's what I thought but probably easier to buy them from the dealer and share the ones I don't need in the forum. I am sure they can be used in other areas.

Any suggestions where I can buy a couple as the dealer hasn't been able to source them this week.

Have a look at this company, They appear to have what you need:

You may have to ask if they have high tensile versions. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
