More Citroen Nerd requests! C5X7 damper valves

Unread post by aerodynamica »

Hello! I'm keen to get data about the C5 X7 Hydractive suspension damper valves.

Reason is that I am changing the rear hydractive unit for a refurbished one that is derived from the front item. They are identical parts but have a few different fittings Eg. the rear hydractive unit has a bleed nipple, the front has a blanking screw. The rear has a block-like manifold fitted to allow the two rear accumulators to fit. I really want to know if the damper valves inside the unit at each side are different from the fronts. I measured the front dampers and they have a center hole of about 1.8mm diameter. The rear ones might actually be the same. They are on the XM (1.25mm front and rear) but they might be different as they are on Xantia Hydractive (1.1mm front, 1.3mm rear). I was hoping to have the dampers already in place before it is transplanted in due course because I am painting the unit for rust protection.

I'm also semi interested in how soft the dampers on the C5 are compared to the XM/ Xantia equivalent.

Really, also I just like giving Marc a servicebox work out :rofl2:

Hi Marc, thanks I did see that thread before and that was where I learned the significant difference the H3+ has with the Soft mode being the default and stiff mode being the energised state (the opposite to Hydractive 1 and 2) But I am looking to find the damper valve specs for the C5X7.

I got the XM ad Xantia ones from the 'pneumatic spheres' section of the 'Xantia Mechanic's handbook' pdf from years ago (I think it's on here too) and this appears to be a Citroen issued document covering details about the Xantia, XM and Synergie.

I was hoping there was a similar resource covering the C5 X7

Ah that's ok Marc, I'll simply compare the damper valves in the rear hydractive unit with those I measured for the front.
