Peugoet 307 2002 HDI 90BHP - Engine Compartment Maxi Fuse Removal

Unread post by smithy5676 »

I'm trying to remove the engine compartment fuse box so I can check the maxi fuses.
I've removed the earth bolt and taken off the larger plastic switches.
I'm cannot seem to get the plastic box out to expose the maxi fuses. There seems to be 3 clips which I've managed to push in to get some movement on the right hand side and the top, but the fuse box seems to be stuck on the left hand side - see picture.
I'm at a loss as to how I can remove the box. I've tried to get a small flexible camera under the fuse box but the space is too small.
I've tried to find a parts diagram to see if something else is fixed to the fuse box but so far cannot find anything relevant.
Please can someone send my a copy of an exploded view of the fuse box and surrounding area?
Any ideas please why I cant remove the box?

Once you have undone the bolt at lower middle and undone the clips, I think you are supposed to carefully pivot it over from the left side, as it it attached underneath to the relays board / relay support. Once you swing it over, you can undo the other attachments. That's maybe why you can't just lift it off.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

When i was sorting my abs loom i found my board a bit hard due to the loom being tight once you get it moving it soon gives think it is a push over to the left then a lift plug a bit of wiggle lol. Still can't belive most car models keep the same layouts year after year, then the next problem you face is making sure the fuse holding prongs don't get to lose like my headlight ones did , but that was a fast fix and a steady hand.

You need to be an octopus to get them out.
There are clips around the perimeter and 2 "ears" that stick through the sides of the box that all need to be released and virtually all at the same time.
The maxifuse holder is clippped to the bottom of the BSM and the very thick wiring to the fuse holder tends to hold the whole assembly into the box!
If you manage to get the clips and ears clear of the box but it still wont come up, its the wiring to the maxifuses holding the whole lot in.
Don't be gentle, you need to unclip the maxifuse holder from the bottom of the BSM before it will come out of the box. It will either pop out as you reef on the BSM, or you need to shred your hand on the plastic box by reaching under the BSM and attempting to unclip the fuse holder.
The stud that you removed the lug from, goes through to the maxifuse holder. Oh! By the way, that is not the earth. That goes straight to the battery positive and is unfused. If your battery is still connected and that lug touches bare metal, your in for a surprise! You can push down on that stud going through the BSM while pulling up on the BSM.
Have fun!
