Yes they supplied Williams, Aston Martin and McLaren as well as their own team. :)

Yes. Precisely. In 2018 Michael Latifi had a 10% share in McLaren. Nicolas never got a seat there despite all the musical seats for drivers at the time.

All Things Motorsport

I was beginning to feel guilty about all the F1 chat on the TV thread so I have started this "All things Motorsport " thread
and thank Richard for moving all the posts on there from James initial one on F1 to this thread :)

They were damned if they did, damned if they didn't... had they finished under SC or re-started with the back runners in the way, RB would have accused them have favouring Mercedes. probably the honourable thing to do at the enquiry would have been to declare it a draw, and have joint World Champions - a decision neither side would have been over the moon about, but on the other hand would have found it hard to appeal against. No doubt there will be another rule added for this situation, and which will probably never need to be invoked!

Having slept on it I have to say I feel exactly the same about the injustice as I did yesterday!' Not a good feeling and now torn between the need to register a strong protest and the wish to enjoy next year with the new regulations! Ho hum!!! :|

I get bored with it nowadays, the only exciting bits yesterday were the Hamilton Perez fight where Hamilton cried "That was dangerous!" and the final lap.

The championship was won or lost over the whole year, not just the last five minutes. There has been a few contested decisions from Michael Massie, some gone Verstappen's way, some gone Hamilton's way. At the end of the day over the whole year Verstappen has more points than Hamilton, so therefore he is champion. I think that there should however be changes to F1. First of all Massie is incompetent and should go. Second teams should not be allowed to contact race control and try to influence the decision. Third there should be a permanent panel of stewards, the same at every race. Fourth there should be no servicing or repairing cars during safety cars or red flags. Fifth if a safety car is needed in the last 5 laps, the race should be red flagged then a rolling stratfor a four lap shootout.

I am not a merc or hamilton fan, but neither am I redbull or verstappen, but Hamitlon went up massively in my estimation for how he handled the situation, I always thought Toto Wolff was fair, but over the last few months ha has cracked under pressure and he has dropped considerably in my estimation. Roll on next year, I hope McLaren has a good car and Lando Norris challenges for race wins, with fairer rules and stewardship.

I see Mercedes F1 have decided NOT to proceed with the FIA appeal. It is over. Done. Dusted. What a complete Cod Piece the FIA have made of the Stewarding of this year's F1 Championship. Mercedes appear to be committing to F1 after announcing they are leaving Formula E. Now waiting to see what Toto and Sir Lewis decide about their respective futures.

The FIA have tried to defuse the issue by admitting they got things wrong but it is still a total travesty.

As I suspected, Toto, Lewis and none of Mercedes F1's Senior Management are attending tonight's FIA Awards. In a scathing interview about the FIA and Michael Masi, Toto has said he will probably never forget the travesty inflicted upon F1, it's teams, drivers and true fans by the desire to pander to TV "excitement and ratings" or making up the rules in such an adhoc fashion. I still reckon Michael Masi did what he did with the blessing and understanding of the FIA - hence no falling on swords or the FIA distancing itself from Sundays debacle.

I am not really expressing much comment on this as I am still flabberghasted that it happened!! I have not yet decided my loyalties for next year as I am waiting for the final organisational decisions following the forthcoming election of a new president of the FIA!! :(

Yes. It is interesting that Stoker didn't want to share his video presentation to Motorsport UK with us "mere enthusiasts and volunteers" despite claims he supports the "Grassroots" and wants to promote transparency and fairness. Odd that!

It will be interesting to see if the FIA fine Toto and Lewis for not attending the Gala in Paris last night. It is a requirement under it's regs as are several other things you must adhere to.
On the presidential front, I see Graham Stoker as the "Continuity" candidate with all the good/bad connotations that brings with it. But do I want the "Progressive" first non European President in the FIA's history - not sure either. Personally, it is Hobson's Choice for me. I just don't trust either of them to have my interests at the heart of their visions and plans. Is it time for me to walk away completely? I love motorsport so could I do that? About to find out I think.
