Thanks for your advice, both of you. Yes, I am going to be replacing the guide tube as well. It cannot be the calliper as that has just been replaced (the auto adjuster adjusted itself out of functioning!), so that was replaced with a reconditioned one (and handing back the old one got me some money back as well). I was wondering if shoving a load of lith-moly grease in the tube might help prevent water getting in, so delay the onset of rust?

Right, she has now come up with a new 'problem', but it is entirely understandable (as she has been sick for six months). When I fire up the radio she is only playing one song, over and over again!;

Hi Paul

The Resources Section is accessible for members who have made a min. £10 Forum donation within the last 2 years (but additionally also provides official live part number requests for up to 2 years) :wink:

It helps us to keep the Forum advert-free, helps towards the Forum server hosting & running costs and subscriptions, which of course don't run on fairy dust. :-D

No worries - I don't have anything in there for the XM apart from the Citroen mechanics manuals and some A/C conversion info. It's just that all new guides I put up in future will be in that section. :wink:

Yea I'm OK with Xm ac conversion from R12 to r134a.. I did my K reg xm.. And it was great I also did a. 2 1td on a. H which will now go on my L reg Xm project., Xm kept R12 untill S2 cars in 1995 even though the Xantia had r134a in 1992 introduction.. A strange cross over

Yes my last 2 XM 2.0 Prestige Turbos A/C systems were ICE cold - as in icicles on the frosticles! Never had anything as cold as those.

Drat!!! The nearside guide tube has become an issue, and also needs replacing (just as well I got one, just in case). Is there a procedure guide for replacing that as well?

No there isn't a separate guide James but shouldn't be too difficult to route if you take photos before hand of the fixings.

Ideally the dpf/cat could do with comming off along with the cross support piece. Then the heat shield.. This makes getting the guide tube in so much easyer. I've only done the older 2.0 8v hdi ones which are a little easyer to do as the cat is much smaller.
There's only one bolt at the front holding the tube up and is press clicks into the hole in the floor where the cables go into the car.

Thanks, Gents. I recall somebody saying that using a plumbers' snake can help to get the guide tube lined up with the hole under the centre console. I have one to hand, and Chris (the guy who got the engine running sweetly again) has a two post lift. He did say he might need to get replacement exhaust clamps, as they can become 'difficult' to remove once they have been in place for a while.

I don't think you can get the tube wrong as the white plastic end is the correct size for the hole it goes into.. What I found was when threading the cable through the end gets caught on the carpet under covering and it just needs a guided finger for it to pop out the hole in the car..

The plumber's snake idea works, keeps you on the correct route and lines up the hole in the end which is out of sight.

Well, I have now got her back, with new handbrake cable and guide tube. Onto something else to ask. I want to find out what entertainment system I have, and how to update the maps. I know she has voice recognition, jukebox, SatNav and telephone functions. There is a vertical SOS button on the left, mirrored on the right with the SIM slot. The maps appear to be from around 2012.
