C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
Following my MOT yesterday (where presumably they had 2 or more wheels off the ground) my suspension has a problem.
I know there have been some discussions on here but this one is slightly different.
The rear suspension is acting normally, but when raising from low to any other setting, the front goes fully to high and the pump keeps running for a while.
dropping from high, the rear drops normally to whatever height is set but the front stays high until low is selected.
Since it's affecting only the front, is it more likely to be something physical (ride height sensor linkage or connection to it that has been disturbed or something calibration-wise that I can sort out with diagbox?
Thanks, Stu.

Re: C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
I wouldn't change anything with Diagbox - that is only for fine tuning the heights. I'd advise against changing anything there because the values entered are only after the height setting / calculations are done and the resulting values are entered in which are converted to other values internally by Digbox so the values are not physical measurement.
I don't have your VIN Stu, but regardless if you have a V6 engine the height correctors are completely different to the 4 cylinder engines.
On V6 models there is a Wheel height sensor on each wheel and not on the axles. So I suspect they may have disturbed it or worse if they didn't know what it was....
I'd check out the fronts and carefully compare position just to see if you can find anything obvious, then try some silicon oil (not WD40) on the linkages to see if that helps. Also check the electrical connectors - as these may be loose.

Re: C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
Dark or not it was bugging me so went out in the rain with a torch and crawled under it anyway. Found the right hand linkage (4) disconnected at the sensor end so popped it back on and all is working. Seemed a bit of a loose fit so will take a closer look tomorrow but for now I am a happy bunny.
Thanks Marc.
Thanks Marc.

Re: C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
Definitely loose and corroded. Do you happen to have a part number for 4? Might grab another one.

Re: C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
Ok here you go:
Item (2) Front Body Height Sensors
Front Left (Red Identification) 5273J7 £73.34
Front Right (Yellow Identification) 5273J8 £73.34
Item (9) Rear Body Height Sensors
Rear Left (Blue Identification) 5273J5 £76.12
Rear Right (Green Identification) 5273J6 £76.12
The angular Pick up in case you need it (8) is the same for front and rear 527381 £6.65 each.
All prices direct from Citroen as of today and include UK VAT.
A word of caution Stu. If replacing these yourself, it goes without saying to support the car independently, as any change to a height sensor can cause the vehicle to drop hard and fast without warning and will crush you.
Also, the sensor support brackets shouldn't need top be moved, which is essential to maintain the correct position. If these are moved, be sure to mark the exact position / angle so they can be replaced in the exact position.
I'll put a guide together for replacing these and will update this post with the link for you.

Re: C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
Seems to be just the link (no 8 above) fortunately so shouldn't need to do much. I'll do it next week when I have the wheel off for my lower hub bush & ball replacement.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: C5 x7 suspension problem following MOT
I had similar problem in the winter after hitting some icy lump in the parking lot at my workplace. Height sensor got bent into wrong position, and after that front functioned just like that. After bending height corrector back to the right position, everything was fine again.

I hope you are not getting under the car while dealing with height sensors!
