New Citroen C5 X
I keep getting emails from Citroen regarding the C5 X, so thought I'd put a link here for members that may not be aware of it.
Unfortunately I'm not all that impressed with the presentation. It's all a bit too scripted and very light on technical detail, with most of the time the presenter is faffing about with the light graphics
With only 52 views at the time of this posting, it's a bit woeful, and no test drive to boot.
Very disappointed with the Hybrid Plug In, with a paltry 34 miles range and 2 hour charging - that wouldn't get me to the shops and back
So not really a lot to shout about and the infotainment screen looks horrendous in that Cyan and a bit slow to react.
So personally, not that impressed and no diesel now.....

Very sadly made in china..
Will therefore never buy one, and no other chinese made car. Due to political and humanitarian reasons.

While I am not concerned about it being made in China, it looks too much like all the other stuff available now and I hate them. Would much rather a 'proper' car, like a CX for instance.

The Chinese already make some good stuff, and quality has improved in the same way that "Made in Japan" was once a byword for cheap-and-cheerful, until Sony, Asahi-Pentax, Savin, Epson, Canon, Minolta and others became the best to be had. No-one can doubt the Chinese ability to have produced BEVs - including BYD and their buses - in quantity, and seemingly at very acceptable quality.
Interesting that China has in some ways rejected low-electric-range (hybrid) EVs - eg Prius - on the grounds that they offer no solution to the air quality problem. Making such vehicles for Europe is obviously another matter, though, although it will have been Stellantis that decided to go with this one.
The promotional video is curious: wooden, almost robotic, and concentrating principally on the cosmetics. Pretty much dumbed down, and maybe intended for sellers, as much as public consumption. Well dumbed down, for what I think is a car of no great contribution to the situation we're now all in.

IMHO Citroen lost the track and compass in last couple of years . This WTB "SUV-s" are getting really annoying. I just want a tourer, limo or coupe...

Unsurprisingly, I have nothing positive to add about the "Stellantis Irrelevant" C5X, the export of emissions to China to make the thing, or its delivery mileage of over 6,000 miles by large car transporter vessel running on bunker fuel to reach to the shores of Europe. Suspect blind eyes will be turned, and exceptions granted should any potential trade barriers and tariffs be erected to protect Europe from an invasion of Chinese cars. The double chevrons on the grill should see to that.

I am sorry to say I clicked on the link to show interest as I will be up for a new car soon, and really want to know how the supension behaves under a heavy car, hopefully I can waste a little time and get a test drive. I have no intention of buying a PHEV. Waiting to drive the Ariya & MeganE sometime next year
I think Stellantis are so far behind the curve that they will be a shaddow of themselves in 10 years, if they are still around.........!

Like Steve I've already opted out of Citroen after my decision to get out of diesel. I am very happy with my two Japanese steeds and am biding my time until a fully electric option that I like comes into my price range. Very sad though as I loved every one of my 11 owned and many more serviced Citroens and should they ever bring out a new proper saloon/estate with viable propulsion I will consider it!!

I've found a little more info on the suspension system. Non Hybrid models have the standard Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, and the Hybrid version only will have the 'active' version:
It goes without saying these are not self-levelling systems. Having drive the new C4 with the basic version of the above, it is quite comfortable, so I have no complaints about the ride:- although it will never be the same as a Hydropneumatic / Hydractive vehicle, it's better than standard springs and struts.New Citroën C5 X is equipped, as standard, with Citroën Advanced Comfort® suspension, a Citroën innovation that filters out road imperfections to ensures a smoother and more relaxed journey – as if you were on a ‘flying carpet’. New C5 X Hybrid takes comfort even further with Citroën Active Advanced Comfort® suspension, offering continuous active control over the suspension system. I'm glad I'm not the only one disappointed by Citroen new stuff... Though it doesn't help a lot. After 40 years in a close relation with these machines, I'm out searching for a new "babe". It feels almost like a divorce after a long happy marriage!

I just recieved an email saying I could, if I wanted, pre-order my New C5-X.
As my circumstances changed last year I was really tempted....for a while........ but why would I buy a car that will only run on its battery for maximum of 30 miles, because things like weather, driving style and battery age will reduced this theorectally range.
Needless to say I did not proceed, however, could not see anything about price!!
