Measure the driveshaft and CV casing diameters, I tried three on my X7 before I got the right one. Don't trust the adverts. Good variety on Ebay.

No worries, thank you for the Forum donation. So the part numbers listed above are correct and as for UK prices as of today - both still available from Citroen:

3287A5: £47.90 for the kit item (4)
329334: 54.32 for the kit item (3).

All VAT inclusive.

Another beginners question...

How hard is to remove the right side driveshaft? Will gearbox oil come out?

The drivers side has a centre bearing but if you are only changing the boot you don't need to remove it. Just slide the old boot back and while holding the shaft give the cv joint a good whack outwards with a lump hammer, I use a 4lb one, it should come straight off.

ok... so, I leave the inner join attached to the car and split the outer one....

My torn boot is the inner one... I have read that joint can be split without hitting it... its just the boot that holds it.. right?

Wrong, the joint is held in the pot by small lips on the inside of the pot. They will come out with a little force but they shouldn't be removed if it can be avoided. Split the joint at the outer end and slide the boot on from there.

Inner ones are different and need the extra rubber to fit the "dimples" of the inner pot. Universal ones are only good for the outer joint, ask me how I know :rofl2:

I didnt realise it was an inner boot. I still use them on inner ones where possible but yes they dont fit every inner joint.

Hopefully I’m not too late to the party here but I’ve found this website to be fantastic in the past. I bought a complete driveshaft for my Mk1 facelifted 2.2 C5, I had a failed gaiter and couldn’t find one from anywhere reputable so I fitted a rubberised gaiter which stretched into place and didn’t last long at all. The CV joint then died not long after thanks to the rubber gaiter dying. In the end I bought a whole driveshaft brand new from here for £110 which was a bargain in my opinion. Being SKF it was perfect fitment and OE quality
