can I assume the 406 3.0 petrol throttle body Bosch part number 0 280 750 041 is the same as the 407 3.0 petrol version part number Bosch 0 280 750 041 ?
Just that they seem to be at least $100 cheaper

That's the Air Intake Throttle Housing and is part 1635P3 (NFP) item (10) below for your vehicle.
I've checked with the 406 equivalent engine (ES9A) and the part is exactly the same PSA part number, so you should be good to go.
