C5 Wheel Nut Torque
Hello All,
Could some kind person help with the wheel nut torque in ft lb (10da Newton?) for the alloy wheels on my C5 Mklll please?.
I have searched the forum and the supersticky and I am just going round and round and cant find an answer.

74Lbs!! I think you have the decimal out Steve. I wouldn't want that force on my alloy bolts!
It should be 7.736 ft-lbs

I had mine at 90 ft-lbs.
Got it from a Citroen handbook I believe.

Ermmm.... 10da Newtons equates to 100 NM which equates to 74lb/ft*

7.7 ft/lbs 2 Fingered Tightness
Sorry in advance but I couldn't resist it - wheel tightness is a TIGHT 70 - 80 ft/lbs give or take
I admit I still think Imperial and still have to check Metric Conversions - easy boob to do given the plethora of differing units in use
Best advice I was given about tightness was " tighten it up until it breaks then turn it back half a turn" - if you kept breaking bolts you hadn't learned enough and didn't deserve to do the job on your own. If things kept coming slack you were sacked.

Thanks Marc for that convertor, looks like Steve was spot on.
The finger tight setting was one obviously to avoid causing any damage to your alloys HaHa.

That PDF was interesting Doormouse. If I interpreted it correctly the setting is 100nm except C5 up to 2008 or did it mean with the arrow pointing at 2008 to be 'From 2008'.
My year reg is June 2008 so I will take the general consensus that the setting is 100nm although I couldnt quite understand the indication in the PDF for the C5 which gives the setting as 100nm and then seems to indicate an exception for the C5 with an arrow followed by the year 2008 but no alternative is shown ?.

Guys, the tightening Torques for both Steel Rims and Alloys on the C5 X7 is to tighten to 10 daNm.
The RESOURCES section lists all the torques for the braking systems and the wheels are listed in there. Just look at any of the X7 brake replacement guides I have put up and they are in there.

Thanks for the guide Marc with the wheel nut settings.
I was also interested to see the procedure for rear brake pad replacement where an electric handbrake is fitted. Although the replacement of the pads isnt imminent I not that a Lexia is needed, which fortunately I have.

Yes, it is required to put the EPB into maintenance mode, which releases and 'unhooks' the cables as it were to allow the pads to be changed properly.
Also very important that when the release procedure has been done after the car is correctly positioned for the work, that the battery is disconnected. The reason for this is that if the ignition is accidentally switched on, the EPB will start to try and engage the cables and could cause damage if you are not anticipating this. There is a reconnection procedure in the same place that ensures the cables re-engage properly after correct operation.
