Re: White smoke
Car is starting after first turn now even when cold, but you have to keep foot on accelerator for atleast 5seconds or it stalls

Re: White smoke
Regarding the van we never found the issue of the difficulty starting, smoke got alot less since we gave it a bit of italian tune ups, and changed injector noZzles, filters etc.. but recently i noticed that when i preheat the engine one time only it has difficulty starting when cold especially, but when i preheat 3 or 4 times the engine fires up instantly, glow plugs are new all of them, can this be a lazy glow plug relay maybe? The plugs i removed one and light it outside, doesnt get cherry red and the relay still cuts out, it gets abit hot but not that hot.

Re: White smoke
Glow plugs (bench tested from 12v) should get bright orange/yellow hot at the tip within 5 or so seconds.
(Do not test beyond 10 or so secs, as they can become damaged with nowhere for the heat to go.)
All need to be working for a good start.
BERU brand recommended.
Current pull should be 9-11A each, so about 40A all four.
Check the GP relay's contacts, internal and external, and the condition of the main cable leading to it from Batt+, and the one leading off to the GPs and their 'rail' connector. If renewing any of these cables, 4mm² stranded is what you should use, with (preferably) soldered ring connectors.
If it's necessary to replace the GP relay, be sure to get exactly the right pt.no., as there are numerous versions that look the same, but function differently (eg pre-heat with/without post-heat).

Re: White smoke
Oh, they are definitely not glowing up red hot at 5 seconds, they take 15 seconds to get red but still not bright. They are denso plugs i believe

Re: White smoke
If your test is from good 12v source, that doesn't sound right.
I would replace them with BERU.

Re: White smoke
No i testes them from the car power not from a 12v source. I wired them to the same loom and turned the key while they were grounded outside the engine

Re: White smoke
You should test the GPs off the car, one at a time, from a decently-charged car battery.
Testing them on the car, via the IGN switch - and presumably GP relay and the wiring - won't give them a clean bill of health, because there are too many other things involved.
If they go orange hot within 5-10secs, they're ok.
It that's the case, suspect the GP relay, connections and cables.
