I have had my 2012 DS5 car inspected by my local independent Citroën mechanic, and he has advised that the bearings in the hybrid alternator are the cause of the noisy engine, and that the OEM Citroën part would be none too cheap new, he advised that I could try to seek a 2nd hand replacement part if possible. He is going to get back to me with the part number in the morning hopefully.
Googling Citroën DS5 hybrid alternator online throws up a lot of results of varying price, and I am at a loss as to which part is the one that I need. There are new, used and remanufactured items being returned on sites (onlinecarparts or mister-auto for example).
Can anyone advise is there a one size fits all part number for the original DS5 Hybrid ? Are there 3rd party clones available cheaper than the originals ? Is there really any point in buying 2nd hand if there’s a chance that it too could be troublesome too in the future ?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

HI. welcome. To get accurate info about particular car you will probably need to get your VIN number ready. If you put it up it will automatically be blanked out so only FCF moderators can read it so you are safe to do so.

Hi,
The VIN is :
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Am aware that the part is prohibitively expensive new - best 2nd hand price I’ve yet found is €600-€700.
With labour it’ll be well over €1,000 !
Yikes.

Thanks wheeler.
Are those prices for parts sourced direct from Citroën ?
Exchange reversible - do I assume that this is a reconditioned part ?

Re: Help Please - which Replacement Hybrid Alternator should I source ?
Yes, those are prices from Citroen (in UK £ excluding VAT)
The cheaper one is a factory recon.

If you go the route of the reconditioned unit they probably will want the old one (as part of the deal) so they have one to recondition and sell.
