Ds5 H4 strange problem

Post by Wawpeyo »

Hi to all and thanks for reading.
I have a Ds5 H4 , was leaking on one injector, took the injector to clean the gunk and replace the seal.
Now p1631 and p2150 present, rough idle but no smoke, completely unoperable.
The injector i took out have a bit of higher injection time 147ms vs 121 of the others.
Any ideas?

Ok, so here you go:

I would start with P2150 first as the P1631 may be as a result of the other fault. This should give you some pointers.
Fault Code: P1631
Description of Fault: Computer: Internal fault (injection with no load). Fault internal to the engine ECU on the torque calculation functions, detected for 2s.
Conditions for Fault to clear: Driving with the engine hot for 5 minutes.
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: None Listed
Symptoms:
  • Jerking/stalling
  • Problem activating the power unit
  • Lack of power
Suspect Areas: Engine ECU

Fault Code: P2150
Description of Fault: Injectors control: Injection bank 2: Voltage too low. Voltage of injection bank 2 too low for 5 seconds.
Conditions for Fault to clear: Driving with the engine hot for 5 minutes.
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Deactivation of the strategy for monitoring the current
of the fuel flow regulation valve
  • Increase in the engine idling speed
  • Deactivation of the kick-down for automatic gearboxes
  • Deactivation of the injector resetting strategy
  • Limitation of performance
  • Reversible deactivation of the vehicle speed limiter
  • Reversible deactivation of the vehicle cruise control
  • Deactivation of the request for the fuel high pressure test from the diagnostic tool
Symptoms: Warning lamp MIL
"SERVICE" warning lamp
  • Engine hesitating, cutting out
  • Noise
  • Smoke from the exhaust
  • Problem activating the power unit
  • Lack of power
  • Absence of automatic stopping of the internal combustion engine
  • Problem with automatic activation of the electric motor
  • Forced driving in electric transmission only
Suspect Areas:
  • Fuel injector 2
  • Fuel injector 3
  • Connectors
  • Electrical harness
  • Engine ECU

Yes, its more or less what duagbox said, but im still clueless of why this will happen on mechannicalli removing an injector to change the seal

Well as recommended in the suspect areas, it's possible the electrical connection has been damaged or the fuel injector itself on removal.

Well the cables themselves have seen better days, however continuity its fine, i have seen in diagnox the (i dont remember very well now) correction of acyclisme was +120 for the one i removed and -40 around for the others, that maybe pointing the injector? Can you confirm they are embr00101d? All stickers gone covered in gunk so cant read any codes on them .
Will be coded ones i believe.

I can only provide you with the internal PSA part: 1980L3 (New) for the injector and holder or 1608902180 for an exchange injector / holder.

What do you think about that acyclism correction?
Should i go for an injector to test?

I can't advise you on that as I'm not an expert on effects of acyclisme correction on injection systems to prevent vibration - but something has obviously happened since its removal and replacement. You may well find a diesel specialist who can help further and not settling down.

You might try a proper shut down and restart first though:

BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

Pay particular attention to keeping everything shut and the timings to give the ECUs and the data networks time to sleep.

Hi, well as i said, replaced and coded the injector ,no change.
Tested wiring from ecu to injector plugs, all wires 1 ohm or less.
I may missed something when you posted the description of the faults. It says there that condition to clear, driving with the engine hot 5 minutes.
That actually means it may clear driving? As the misfire its as horrible i havent tried, but can do

Well, still flabbergastered whith tis car, after successive bsi resets, sometimes faults go, at least, car starts without missfire, but instantly come back with the p2130, however running well, as soon as i clear the fault it start misfiring again.

Are you using Diagbox for the diagnostic? Reason I ask is that P2130 is not listed as a fault code against this engine ECU.

Generally and not specifically speaking in relation to this car, the P2130 would refer to a Throttle Position Sensor anomaly. P2132, P2133, P2134, P2137 & P2140 relate to TPMS issues on this engine.
