Haven't noticed that Gibbo, and not seen it on mine, although there is a minor bit of lacquer peel in a very small area on one bit of the apron which i have done nothing about. Maybe some owners go for OTT repairs when they spot a minor imperfection and end up with an apron a slightly different shade from the rest of the car as a result.

Dont know how prevalent it is but folks on PCP arrangements fearing of handing back a vehicle with stone chips in the usual places may opt for some protective covering like this

I have to agree with Gibbo there except for the one thing that irritates me which is the american pronunciation of 'Nissan'. Right or wrong for me it is 'Niss Anne'
not 'Knee sarn' which does rankle with me!!  Other than that a good investigation which was very watchable, even though I did have to have a beer break!! :-D

American accents and mispronunciations really grind my gears.

And the incessant "Oh my Gaaaaaahd"s.

Got the job done on the Leaf, bought new shoes for the disc/drum handbrake combo, but didn't bother fitting them old ones had plenty left, just did a bit of a clean up.

Obvious really, but back off the handbrake adjuster by clicking the cog through the hole for that purpose in the "disc drum" and the disc just pops off without any hammering.

Caliper Pistons were just push in, slackened off the 8mm Bleed nipples after giving the rust at the base where it enters the caliper a bit of rust removal and spray. What are car makers thinking of...8mm Bleed nipples, do they want you to buy a new caliper when they shear off :?: :-D Luckily both sides undid without drama.

The little bit of brake fluid spurted out on pressing the pistons back is hardly worth opening a bottle of the specified DOT3 for and the Master cylinder is still pretty much at Max.

So the first proper maintenance dirty hands job is done on the Leaf. Just like any other car except parts are a touch more expensive than on the bog standard 16 year old BB Micra.

Went with ECP as usual for convenience, but no doubt about it in my recent experience, although to all intents and purposes the same, carparts4less, undercut ECP prices (after disc) for exactly the same parts by a decent margin if you can wait for the free delivery to arrive.

There was a bit of advice offered over on Edd China's Workshop Diaries yootoob that I have absolutely no idea if it would help, but it's to put a close fitting drill shank down the bleed nipple hole before trying to undo stuck ones to give them a bit more strength.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

You need to get yourself a 'Dave' with a mancave Neil!! :-D

Yes bobins that was a good tip from Edd, I was taught to use a round nail for the same purpose by a chap who used to be our nextdoor neighbour's lodger, who drove a Hillman Husky which I used to help him maintain after getting home from school!! :-D

I'm quite surprised they specify DOT 3 fluid, it's a bit old hat.

Has anyone got round to stripping that rattling transmission yet?

Mick asked the question on Simon's blog, but no update as yet either here on the FCF or on Speak EV where Simon also documented the saga.
