On these engines, I think a failed gasket on the filter mount or heat exchanger can cause an oil leak back to the sump.
It is a moderately difficult job to change the gaskets, as the catalytic convertor must be removed and access is awkward.
If going down that path, I strongly recommend replacing the turbo oil feed pipe at the same time, as it also requires cat removal, and will probably start leaking due to being disturbed. Don't replace with the original design of pipe, which is rubbish, better aftermarket parts are available.

Re: Low oil pressure
Thanks Chris the car is new to me less than 1 month and has been off the road for nearly 12 months so have no history of issues all new to me. Can I get the part no for a new oil pressure switch and will replace anyway. When car is cold I get no oil pressure messages at all only after engine is hot about 15 mins driving at then only when the engine is idling at 750 rpm if I increase speed fractionally with engine pitch but no change on the dash the light goes out but comes back on when I release the throttle.

Re: Low oil pressure
Engine oil pressure switch is #16 in the parts diagram above, pt.no. 1135 C5, and available at Citroen.

That adds other (possibly expensive) options for failure.paulgregory10 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 19:54 Thanks Chris the car is new to me less than 1 month and has been off the road for nearly 12 months so have no history of issues all new to me.
It is possible that the oil changes have been neglected and the pickup screen in the sump is blocked.
It is also possible that the timing chain tensioner/guides have failed in the past and have been replaced. Occasionally a piece of broken tensioner or guide can get caught in the chain and go around the oil pump sprocket, putting a big strain on the oil pump body, causing it to crack, leaving it leaking internally with resulting low oil pressure.
It would also be a good idea to take the top cover off the engine to inspect the camshaft journals, as (previous owner) running for long periods with low pressure may have caused excessive wear and scoring.

Re: Low oil pressure
Sorry about that.
The OP did not state that it was a diesel, and the parts diagram looks very much like that for a THP. As far as I am aware, the VTR+ is a trim level, and depending on market, could have various petrol or diesel engines fitted.

Re: Low oil pressure
Update I have had todo the injector seals 2 were leaking and rocker box gasket oil leak but still have a low oil pressure warning on the dash at idle o ly when the engine is hot after at least 15 mins of driving no warnings when the engine is cold.

Re: Low oil pressure
Try replacing the engine oil pressure switch with a new one. It could faulty.
With hot engine, and light coming on at idle, if you raise the engine revs a little (say to 1500), does the warning light extinguish?

Re: Low oil pressure
Some oil pressure switches have a very high threshold, and are quickly extinguished as soon as revs are increased slightly above idling. A partially blocked oil filter can have the same effect, as the switch almost always comes after the filter.
