Balls....And Joints!

Post by Doo »

Hi chaps, how do I know from sitting on my behind, which ball joints my Lingo has?

I'm offered either 18mm or 21mm :?

If I can't find it on here, I take it I just measure the diameter of the locking nut inner.... It's a bit of malarkey as you can imagine :x

Thank you :)

If you can post up the VIN, we can have a look, although it may not be obvious what the difference is...

Just ask for the official parts numbers as you're a donating member and for your Berlingo VIN ending in 105:

Here is the diagram:
Doo Ball Joints.PNG
There are 2 options for each side - a genuine Citroen one and a Citroen-approved cheaper version for older cars.

Steering Rod Ball Joint Kits RIGHT:
OEM Right (Marking 60LYJL), part number: 381788 £97.54
Cheaper Citroen Approved part number: 1610936580 £55.55

Steering Rod Ball Joint Kits LEFT:
OEM Right (Marking 60LYJL), part number: 381789 £97.54
Cheaper Citroen Approved part number: 1610936880 £55.55

The nut (7) on the diagram states it is 10X125-18,25 if that helps.

All available direct from Citroen parts, prices today and VAT inclusive.

100 quid for a track rod end... no wonder folk go aftermarket! I had assumed however, we were talking about lower ball joints... Doo will need to confirm!

Hi all, well what hilarity :? On antibiotics because the broken filling went on so long (covid nonsense) that the broken tooth got infected and lucky me has an abcess. Can't get it out until next week...

So, back to the problem. Found the Vin: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

I need to know if my lower ball joints are 18mm or 21mm....??

Thank you for all your help chaps, a very sore Doo :(

Just use the official part numbers I've provided to locate the equivalent aftermarket parts if you are not getting them from the dealer if these are what you need. If it's any other part let us know.

Doon't know if I am being dense, but I cant see what I need in the numbers....

I need to replace the lower arms AND ball joints, but I can't get the replacements until I know if my car has 18mm or 21mm bottom ball joints.

This is yours:
berlingoarms.JPG
No mention of a size of the joint, and that is the only part number listed for your series of Berlingo - and it appears to be the widely used one on C4 / Picasso / 307 Partner etc that needs a deep 41mm socket to get it out. The part number given in your ebay link is not found in Citroen or Pug parts, so I don't know what it relates to...
