207 hdi error code

Unread post by civvie »

Daughter has a 207HDI that has thrown up the usual (visit garage to fix fault) she popped into her local repairer this morning they stuck their diagnostic machine on it and popped up C322h-49954
1434H-5172 and U1218 not sure if the first two are proper ones but that is what she was given.
She has had the Eolys topped up a few weeks ago I have to assume the garage reset the counter when they filled the tank, but talking to daughter about cars is a non starter. For years I have always sorted out her car re repairs oil brakes etc but age and health problems have curtailed this. She lives in Basingstoke so not around the corner.
Car has done about 140000 miles Vin is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] as given by her. Would appreciate any clues what these errors mean and if it can sort it out for that would be great.

codes usually start with a "P"

a cheap OBD2 reader on ebay will get you some proper codes, probably for half the price it cost to take to a garage
no egr, no dpf, no problems.

Hi Steve, sorry, only just seen this.

The first 2 codes are not codes.
U1218 is a communication fault, usually on the CAN network. I’ll have more info on thus as it relates to your car when I get back in.

Thanks Marc, will await any help you can give.
Nick, I didn't think those first two were proper codes, even the garage told my daughter they had never seen them before. She is going to look at her options as she knows it will cost her more money in the future and as she is in the care industry so needs reliable transport.

Am going to check the ECU connectors, Marc can you please guide me where the thing is placed on her car. Will do the usual checking tightness of the plug and clean the pins with switch cleaner. AFTER disconnecting the battery and letting it sleep.

The Engine ECU is on the left side of the battery. Be very careful with this, and despite what the bloke in the video says, if you are removing any connections from any ECU, always disconnect the battery terminals first and make sure they don't re-attach accidentally, following the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure.

This vide will show you where it is:
