This weekend Leo uploaded episode 100 in the series which is a complete resumé of all the work since the project began so I thought it might be a good time to post another in the series on here: :-D

I binge watched the first 90 odd episodes and became a donor - so it is all your fault. This vlog is to a far higher standard than most things on YouTube. Here's to the next 100 episodes.

I often dip into the website oldclassiccar.co.uk https://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/

Nice to see it moving with the times it has its own youtube channel.

The first title which caught my eye was.... Garage Hunting in the 52 Ford Anglia.

I've put it on the GArages Gallery thread

For those with an engineering mind out there - just watch the first 30 seconds of this 100 year old fractal vice in action. It's a thing of beauty :)

I thought I had posted this last night but it doesn't appear to be here!! This is a view of the British Superbike race that we had from our grandstand seats. Towards the end I pan left and you can see the cloud building which was later to drench me as evidenced in the Whatsthisthen thread!! :-D

On the back of James' Coney Island video, one of the click links on youtube was to a film of a journey from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly from the cab of an electric DC loco. On the way it passed by an A/C e.m.u.

I enjoyed the comments re HS3 yes not HS2, the miles into the future HS3 potential link up of the Northern Powerhouse...er it already was linked up and electrified back in the 50's but the line was closed forming in parts now very nice walking trails. Railways of course have to make money, roads on the other hand are "investments" and the network a national asset, and have never in recent times had to pay for themselves to justify their existence.

One film led to another, and there is plenty on Alan Snowden's youtube channel of his movies originally filmed on 8mm cine from mainly the 1960's on transport, railways canals etc.

One of his short films as an example narrated by his wife.

You may be interested in this MIck which I came across in Alan Snowden's cine film train journeys.

Recreates or should I say pre-creates your journey of the other day from Radlett to Kentish Town...heading in the return direction from St Pancras to Luton/Bedford, and passes by scenes which may be familiar to you.

Nice one Neil!! Apart from my journey the other day I lived in Luton, well Leagrave to be precise, for 10 years before I met SWMBO. During that time I used the line a lot, especially for the 2 years that the girlfriend of the time lived in Mill Hill! Bob worked at Radlett exchange for 5 years so that was another reason to use the line. Consequently I know it pretty well and in that video the only real differences south of West Hamstead were the loss of the semaphor signal gantries. The rest hasn't changed that much at all!! Going north from West Hamstead has changed a lot, significant development through the second half of the 20th Century and ongoing today around Hendon and Mill Hill. Elstree & Borehamwood is heavily developed now but Radlett hasn't changed much apart from the signage etc. Thanks for that!! :-D

Prompted by the Whatsthisthen thread I had a browse for the 190E Cosworth and came up with this comparison with the Sierra Cosworth from the 5th Gear team:

I was fascinated by this video which shows that you don't need an English Wheel to make complex curved panels - you just need a Millyard!! :-D

Re the brief discussion on teaching the other day. I caught the last 10-15mins of this programme last night.

My reaction was, what a tremendously difficult, all consuming, stressful, at times impossible job, and carried out with such care and yes love. Difficult behaviours to have to deal with, but dealt with in an extremely sensitive way, and a dilemma between devoting time between the sensitive and time consuming dealing with the challenging behaviour of some and the benefit of the many in class.

Its a truly amazing work and dedication which happens every day across the nation in a school near you. Lots of people have different experiences and relate back to their own school days, maybe where school was something to survive rather than enjoy. Worth a watch.
