And the dashed black/white lines on the road-number direction signs? Wonder how many folk understood what those meant?

Cant find a "deceptive bends" notice as was on UK roads anywhere on the internet.

10cc or should I say 5cc because (Godley and Creme had left) did an album entitled "Deceptive bends" (1977). The album was recorded at the newly completed Strawberry South Studio in Dorking, Surrey. The Hipgnosis cover with a deep sea diver with a girl draped across his arms, offered a different interpretation but the album title originates from the Mickleham Bends on the A24 near Dorking, famous in motorbiking culture of the 60's as this little extract hints.
http://the59club.com/public_html/90mph.html
A sign beside the A24 Leatherhead to Dorking road in Surrey warns travellers: DECEPTIVE BENDS. Hemmed in by tall hedgerows and confronted by blind curves, the average cautious human eases the accelerator to negotiate these hazards But to a minority of motorcylists in the 1960s, the deceptive bends signpost only acted as a spur to turn on speed. These riders were the infamous rockers, leather-jacketed youths on thundering British vertical twins, and their aim was to take the curves as fast as possible-up to 100mph. The Deceptive Bends stood as an ultimate test of ability and nerve for South London's Rockers, and if you could take them on the limit, your rating as a bike rider was assured.
So more points if anyone can come up with a "deceptive bends" UK Road sign. You would think someone would have photographed the one on the A24 from that era. It ain't there anymore.

And the dashed lines; it was these that had a meaning — What was it?

The dashed line meant that the road lead to the road below it in a short distance, as a road is shown in brackets nowadays. Routes in brackets were to be found further away down the named routes. I Think!! :)

I came across this sign which I originally thought was from across the pond! However on closer examination I realised it is an AA sign, therefore I believe was somewhere in the UK?
