This is the rear window Chris.. All other three windows are behaving no problem Inc drivers.

Like I said.. Its just opening on its own. Also in lexia it has communication with the door module but doesn't recognise the ecu..

OK, rear... #-o
A stuck or sticky switch?
Can't be undue friction, as that's only detected by the anti-pinch on the driver's door . . . unless anti-pinch got added to the others as well?

Taken switches off still cones down without switches attached at all..

So onto wiring diagram. Or pull a. Fuse or take plug off the motor..

Just taken fuse f15 out which kills power to both rear windows.

Its something to do with this replacement bsi.. Its from an 03 car.. Its only happend since I swapped bsi over.. I took switches off the rear. Door and the drivers door pack..

Opend the drivers door pack no corrosion or wet in there.. Its getting a signal from the. Bsi but I'm not sure what.. Which is a right shame because all the other issues are sorted.. Been out. I'm it this afternoon for couple of hours no egr valve fault either...

There should be a (slider) switch on the driver's door panel that disables the rear door switches.

Ok just a random hunch
All windows are electric and can be operated from the drivers controls.
Is it possible there is some intermittent connection within the wiring leading to the rear door window plug that means it will operate as if being the drivers window ie anti pinch.
Removing the switch itself will only disable the switch, it will not stop any worn insulation on the wiring to the plug confusing the ECU that controls the window itself ?

Yes it has happened since the change of BSI but it could happen at any time and nothing to do with the BSI change ( apologies if BSI/ECU swap reference is incorrect )

Im fairly convinced its bsi.. As the auto wipers won't work as there is no rain sensor (which is built into the bsi) setting.. I initially bought the cheap set to prove it was the engine ecu that I zapped. Which I have proved. It was only the window playing up I'd consider it.. But as its window.. Plus no rain sensor for the wipers and also the rear wiper config was also set to n

Looking at wireing diagrams the cars ecu had issues with cruise control and cooling fan slow speed. From what I can, see on wiring diagrams they are both associated with 32 pin grey connector on the ecu..

So.. I'm wondering now. If there's anything obvious inside the ecu on that socket area in put. I shall see if I can open the ecu up..

any ecu gurus on here once it open who may be able to spot anything..?

I am not an ECU guru in any form, but I would look for any 'grey' solder joins (as opposed to nice silvery ones). A grey join is what is known as a 'dry' join, and is a poor electrical join. Touching it with a soldering iron may well sort it out. My Mum had a problem with her computer keyboard (many years ago), and various 'repair' places had not resolved it. I asked Mum which keys were involved, and then searched the tracks associated with just those keys. One dry join leapt out at me, and a touch with a soldering iron permanently fixed that fault. (The difference between a dry join and a good one is like the 'grey' side and the 'shiny' side of Bacofoil).

If you do not find a dry join take a very close look (maybe with a magnifying lens) for any joins with cracks in them (they can be hairline fine, hence the magnifying lens). Should you find one a careful touch with a soldering iron (and a tiny dab of solder) should fix it. However, if you find one does not mean there won't be more, so keep looking. The most likely place is where the connecters are fixed to the board.

If you do find any dry/cracked joins (and fixed them) DON'T put the old ECU back in. It is the only device with the CORRECT mileage (for that car) in it. See if you can find a company that can reset the mileages on the instrument cluster and the replacement ECU. If you do, send them off (explaining the circumstances), and hopefully they will reset them back to zero for you. Then put the instrument panel and the original ECU back into the car. The instrument panel will then get the correct mileage. If the car then works properly you have a spare 'virginised' ECU available for future use, otherwise, if you need to use it, it will get the correct mileage from the instrument panel.

Question.. I've seen another ecu bsi set on ebay for 55 quid.. Now the bsi is identical to my original one which cooling fan and cruise didn't work on.. But Im concerned over dates.. As attached. There's a year between them. Mines got 04 date on it the ebay one 03.. Do these dates matter as long as they are identical..?

Ebay one..

The mileage is not stored on the ECU on this car, the only places the mileage is stored is the BSI & the instrument panel.
Besides, mileage 'correction' guys generally don't ask questions or give two hoots what you want the mileage set to or why. :-D
