Change language RT3

This is the RT3 unit and was made by Magneti Marelli
The RT3 was available in a few different hardware versions, the later ones supporting MP3 playback. These units had an optical connection to the Display Screen.

Change language RT3

Post by C5Thomas »

I have a C5 2.0 Exclusive Break -05 and I want to change language in the GPS.
When I try does it reply's “Insert the configuration CD”.
Tried with Lexia but It says NO dialog with the multimedia screen and NO dialog with the radio.
The GPS and radio works perfect but I want to change language from German to English.
Anyone who knows what to do :?: :?: :?:

Pop your VIN up so I know what system you have.

I suspect for the year you have the RT3 system. If that is the case, you need the original Firmware CD to change the language. You can't do it with Lexia. It is important that you have the correct version of firmware on CD (CAN or VAN) as there were 2 systems and cannot be mixed or you will brick the system. Once you have the correct CD for your system, it is a matter of inserting it into the CD player and starting the vehicle - then changing the language from the menu and it will read and replace all the language files on the head unit.

Ok, confirmed - you have the RT3 system. So next question is which version CAN or VAN you have (I suspect CAN), but do the following to check:

1) Switch the power on
2) Hold down the MENU button until you get the extended menu
3) Select DEVICE DESCRIPTION
4) The software version will then appear

Let me know what it says or take a picture of the screen and upload it to the Forum using the full post editor button / attachments/ browse to photo/ then use PLACE to put the picture in line with the text where you want it.

Do you have the original CDs for the system that came with the car in the handbook usually with the map CDs?

Hello.
I would like to ask for your help.
I have a 2007 Lancia Phedra car.
Anything I want to set in the menu keeps asking for the configuration CD.
The car is from Italy. Everything is in Italian language.
The system is RT3 CAN Firmware 6.63.
Unfortunately I don't have any of the factory disks. What can be done in this case?
I am writing from Hungary.

Hi

So to change the language you do need to have the system CD software. I may have an ISO version of the Citroen software, so you may want to try this. I will send you a private message with a link shortly.

Thank you very much.
I have the files.
But I have already downloaded and posted them. But nothing happened.
It keeps asking for the configuration disk. Maybe the central unit is not good?

Read my instructions in the first link I gave you.

You need to create a CD first from the ISO file I provided. Windows can do this. You need a blank CD-R first, then right click on the ISO file and windows should offer to mount or burn it to a CD. You must have CD burning software on your PC to do this first of all.

These are older systems before USBs were used and the system can only be updated via CD ROM. An ISO file is an exact copy of the system software and when used with CD burning software, it will create a read only copy of the software on the CD that you then use to update the RT3 or to change the options.

Ok, so you too have the CAN version.

I will send a link with the correct ISO - but you will have to burn the ISO image onto a CD, (very slow burn speed) & finalise the CD.
Then insert the CD and you can change the language, voice synthesis (Male / Female) etc.
