C5 Dual Zone Climate Control heater Resistor.

Post by mookie30 »

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this forum, but a fairly experienced mender of mainly Citroen & Peugeot.

A neighbour of mine asked me to do a heater resistor on his car, no problem I thought.... can kinda do these things in my sleep now. So, I did the strip down where it should be...it's not there.

The car is a 2006 (earlier model) C5 with the top of the range dual zone climate. Looking underneath the LHS footwell, I can see the fan motor, the wiring for the incredibly hard to access flat heater module, the cabin filter etc, but absolutely no sign of where the resistor might be! Can't see any spare wires either. The car is LHD.

Anyone help? I'm five hours in and pulling what little hair I have left out with this one!

Cheers, Mike

It was in the RH footwell in my Mk1 C5 with dual zone climate control. Pretty sure it's the same on the Mk2 facelift. At least with it being a LHD model it'll be easy to get to.

Most of it seems to be on the left, that's where everything else is except the resistor. Is that what you found on yours too?

It's quite a while since we had the MK1, let alone was messing around with the aircon but my memory is that I had the information it was on the RH side so didn't really investigate the LH side.

The Mk3 (X7) has the control unit (resistor) on the LH side for the dual zone climate control (not sure about base aircon). The base aircon on the Mk1 also has the control unit on the LH side. Maybe you're getting confused by these?

What are we talking about?

Air Heating Resistor (for aiding heating the cabin / demisting on cold mornings) or
Blower Control Module (used for controlling the cabin blower motor speed)?

According to some of the info I have this is depending on model whether it has one - and I can't find reference to it on the MK I or II - only the Air Heating Resistance unit.
