Multi function display and footwell lights and heater fan

Post by Kevin hartnoll »

Hi I use yo be a master tech at peugeot but probably forgotten more then I learnt lol
I have a 2013 c3 with 2 small insufficient problems but would like to put right, both are not covered in the hand book, and a bigger problem.
1 the multi function display has a diagnostic report when I open it it shows all side lights, head lights and fog lights listed separate all saying not working. They are working so they are obviously old messages and I cant work out how to clear the display.
2 the 2 courtesy lights in the under dash felt are not working.
Now on to my more serious problem
The climate fan will not turn off, I am convinced its the resistor pack I purchased a cheap one £15 and still same but after a minute it smelt burnt out replaced the control panel and another cheap resistor same happened
I'm wandering are these cheap resistors junk and should I buy a genuine one for £134.?
I am wandering if the fan is drawing too many amps so don't want to plug in new resistor till after confirming its not the motor. It spins free and works well
I need to do an amp draw test so does anyone know what Amops a good motor will draw?if over 10a I will need to buy an amp clamp
Phew sorry for the long message
Thank you
Kevin.

It would help if you put your VIN up (automasked) so we know exactly which system you have.

I assume you replaced the blower motor control module? The Air blower running on full blast is indeed symptomatic of this module going faulty. Cheap modules are known for not working or failing. You need to get a proper branded one and avoid ECP to rule out a faulty module.

As for the bulbs have you first tried replacing the bulbs or testing the current first?

Hi Mark
Thank you for your reply
I tried 2 modules from ebay £15 each but no change
I have since checked amp draw on fan motor and came to the same opinion the modules are rubbish. I bit the bullet and bought one from Citroen for ,£133.and all works fine. I guess you get what you pay for.
As for the bulb warnings zll bulbs and connections were fine but I found some one with Lexia and we plugged it on and cleared from there so 2 jobs all done.
All that's left is to work out why the 2 footwelllights have no feed but not really toobothered about them
Thanks again for your responce

Ok, so the reason why the footwell lights won't be working is that they are part of the 'Ambience Pack' and therefore not fitted with your trim / option level which is why I asked for the VIN to clarify.

Models without the ambience pack have the ceiling light and that's pretty much it.

Ok, that helps, as you do, according to the VIN, have the ambient lighting pack and activated driver and passenger footwell lamps on this vehicle - leave it with me I'm checking some of the electrical connections out.....

Ok, so have a look at the bottom fuse (F7) in the lower row of the BSI in the passenger compartment glovebox arrowed in red. This is a 5Amp fuse for the map reading lights and the glovebox lighting and the vanity mirror lamp.

OK I will look tomorrow as I'm going out now
I canconfirm though I definitely have not got a glove box light as I have had this out to access the heater also no vanity mirrors its one of those large screens where the roof lining and sunvisors slide back.
Map reading lights are working
Speak tomorrow
Kind regards
Kevin.

So the only other thing I can suggest is earthing point or the connection back to the BSI.

With my 2007 Peugeot 207CC 1.6 VTi rebuild I have had several instances where, upon reconnecting the battery, it flashes up warnings about all the bulbs not working. After a number of restarts and drives these go away by themselves. So I don't know why it gets unhappy, although I invariably have the alarm go off when I reconnect the battery, even after following Marc's recommended procedure for disconnecting/reconnecting. I now wear headphones.
